Hunt on for Plymouth Rock defacers

What's the matter with these men now days?

There is a very long history of individuals defacing Plymouth Rock. I have somewhere a news clipping from the 1930s reporting that it had been painted red and that this was likely the work of communists. Yes, the Red Scare was around long before Joseph McCarthy.

I generally deplore graffiti, but I did come across some really fabulous graffiti on Plymouth Rock one time that was removed almost to the point of invisibility, but not quite. I have a photo. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, it simply said "The New World" - almost like a directional sign.

With spring just a month away and another Memorial Day in view, has there been any word or media curiosity on the cover-up of last year's vast destruction and swastika painting at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial at the entrance to UMass Boston? We've all seen the unusual, special treatment extended to Governor Baker's son, credibly accused but not prosecuted for groping a woman on a flight. We were also told that an unnamed fugitive wanted on a previous felony was accused in the UMass case but inexplicably not arraigned and no follow-up. Whose "kid" committed the UMass destruction, including swastika, then got away with it? Did the suspect not fit the media narrative?
