I was in CVS this morning and the two people in front of me each bought $100+ of cold medicine and related supplies. They didn't look sick so I'm assuming people are preemptively stocking up. Hopefully they can restock in time for people who actually need it.

I'm having a hard time understanding the hoarding behavior. Is it that people want to avoid a second or third trip, with the possibility of exposure, later in the month, or is it that there is fear the supply chain will be disrupted?

I went to a neighborhood market in Dorchester earlier for milk but decided to peruse the cleaning supply aisle. I keep hand sanitizer, cleaning products & bleach in stock anyway but not knowing how long this is going to last I thought I'd check since I was there. No bleach. Minimal toilet paper. No Clorox wipes. Did have the Clorox & Bleach Cleaner so grabbed some of those & thank goodness they weren't price gouging! On my way back I ran into someone I know from around the hood who lives in some type of home (I think for recovering addicts) who I have purchased industrial bleach, toilet paper, big things of Lysol from in the past. So, sue me. I asked if he had any of those things & he gave me his # - I'm gonna call in a bit. If I can get that stuff for little money I damn sure will get it. Yes, judge me if you like, but I buy hot shit, as long as I'm comfortable that you didn't steal it from your mama, auntie, grandma's house, etc. I don't do that.

It's even worse. That's actually the wall where the paper towels usually are. The TP is usually on the wall to the right of the fire door. If they were down to that one pallet of whatever, they've gone through everything else.
