Beginning a sentence with “so” ties it into a preceding or ongoing conversation; it’s a useful if minor improvement in our language.

Waiting for normal
So, I watched all 8 minutes. It was soothing, I think because I haven't been out at all and because it's telling me all my beautiful city will be here when we get back to normal. Normal, of course, could be more than a few months away. And normal will be different. Still, those footpaths through the Common, the granite steps at Quincy Market, the derelict wharf, all these old friends, are waiting for us to come back.
