Boston Calling called off
Organizers of Boston Calling announced today that they've cancelled the May music festival because of coronavirus:
We are heartbroken; however, the health and safety of our audience, artists, partners, vendors, first responders, and staff are of the utmost importance to us, and we felt that this was the only acceptable way forward.
To our audience, whom we value dearly, we are so sad that we will not be together with you in May. We know information regarding your tickets is extremely important to you. As such, we will be reaching out to all ticket holders in the coming weeks with a detailed outline of options available. This includes obtaining a full refund or rolling tickets to next year’s event – about which we hope to have exciting news to share soon.

shocked it took so long
but then again, i don't know a single person who bought tickets so I mean it must be tough telling those 600 people who actually bought tickets to this awful lineup that they can't go anymore
Aw
You’re a delight.
Ticket purchasers
Should get pushed to the front line of coronavirus testing. They say having no taste is a symptom.
You just told on yourself
What, you don't have an array of Yeti cooler products and enjoy growlers of craft beer that you trade with your suburban dad buddies? Maybe rock a Patagonia baseball hat? You haven't bought a stand up paddle board or green egg griller in the last four years? You're not looking at the current economy and wondering maybe the cost of college for your HS aged kids will go down to match the stock market?
I guess unfair to lump Rage in with the Foo Fighters and RHCP as dad rock but then, kids these days don't have much interest in rock music at all so it's probably accurate.
LOL
Don’t know if this a shot a gen x or millennials. Hoping for millennials because that would signal my generation is coming to power after being oppressed by those boomers
I don't care how old you are.....
If you don't like a good John Frusciante solo, you don't like music.....
Side note, RHCP songs like Californication and Scar Tissue are some of the worst songs I have ever heard. They literally make my ears hurt. But a good live show with Frusciante playing is gonna have some good stuff.
And Rage and their fans might think they are above it, but those suburban dads made them millions back in 1995 just like they did the Foo Fighters and RHCP. They are all the same for the most part.
Frusciante is back with the band?
I did not know that.
Full disclosure, I saw the RHCP several times back in my youth after Blood Sugar Sex Magic came out and they were tremendous. I am making fun of the fact that the two of the three headliners were at their peak in 1992 or so, much like myself, and of course making fun of my fellow middle-aged dads who were probably at the same shows as I was.
He is back!
And one of his first shows back was going to be Boston Calling I believe. RHCP is one of those bands that are much better in shows than some of the annoying pop tracks radio plays over and over. I saw them live at the Garden back around 2005 or so, and once as a teen back in the 1990s, but yea he is back.
Maybe you need to get out more
So because you “don’t know anyone” 600 tickets sold? Lol, you must be a treat. 3 of the greatest bands of the last 20/30 years where headlining. I guarantee you it’s more than 600. What a jerk.
Sorry, cool guy.
Boston Calling has been a cheesy millenial goofball fest since Day 1.
The last halfway decent outdoor concert in Boston was Green Day.
The hatch shell
Hosted a free Blue Oyster Cult concert in 2012 I wanna say. So there's that.
Boston Calling was old hat anyway
Nobody was going to go to that outdated thing anyway so this is just the break they needed to call it off and save face. This is likely the tipping point that will end it for good.
Nope. 2021 is still on. So
Nope. 2021 is still on. So far anyway
Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded.
"Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded."
Each of the headliners can sell out the garden @ 20k people for multiple nights on their own. You really think they hadn't sold 80-100k tickets? You are gravely mistaken.
anthony kiedis
not getting any skinnier.
The real truth
I can't say for sure about Friday and Sunday, but the Saturday show with Rage was sold out. So to the too cool folks who didn't like the line-up at least get your facts straight.
Not sure why there's all of
Not sure why there's all of this hate. I'm in my mid 30's, so maybe I'm not cool enough to comment, but it seems like an awesome lineup. Less hip-hop than in years past, but it's always been a mix depending on the year.
I was actually pretty excited for Rage, but I probably would have forgotten to buy tickets until I had already missed it like usual...
