Note: Looks like maybe another hundred showed up.
What a difference a few years makes. Compare the 100 or so Trumpists who demanded the right to breathe on other people on Beacon Street outside the State House this afternoon, as photographed by Frog Lane Harpy. with the tens of thousands who protested him on Beacon Street in 2017.
The Trumpies arrived in a convoy of motorcycles and pickups and at least one larger truck, whose driver seemed to be trying to compensate for something (and whose inspection sticker, as well as the one on the pickup behind him, did not appear to indicate Massachusetts residency):
Afterwards, the protesters did not try to storm the State House to intimidate legislators with their big ol' assault weapons, since those are illegal here, unlike in other states we could mention.
During speechifyin' on the steps of the State House, one speaker said coronavirus is a hoax aimed at turning us into, if not gay frogs, then socialists.
The Globe reports that one of the organizing groups was the same group that ran last year's anti-gay march through the Back Bay and downtown.

From comments from both of us, that we both have implied that Adam felt the size of both crowds relative to each other, was important enough to merit mentioning.
And yes, a small turnout does point to a lack of interest in the movement (thank God.) But again, no need to compare it to the other rally. It is indeed a sign of TDS.
But we're just talking in circles now.

Fine each and every one of them $300 for not wearing a mask in public and then donate the money to the unemployed poor people who have been waiting for their goddamn unemployment checks to arrive since they clicked "Submit" on the broken and backed up website.

Gov orders masks. Unconstitutional?
By Daan
Mon, 05/04/2020 - 4:00pm
Few argued that a military draft of US people to do battle, get maimed or die in Vietnam was unconstitutional. The unfortunate opinion was that conscripting people even for a war where we had no need to be involved was okay if the powers that be say so?
Yet there are now folks claiming that a temporary legal measure designed to slow down an otherwise tsunami of death is unconstitutional, illegal and just plain bad?
Makes me wonder about the unconcious motivations going on here and the past. Prior to WW2 the fascists were Europeans' problem. Until Pearl Harbor of course.
But come Korea and Vietnam Communists were treated as a natural enemy that the US was obligated to fight anywhere.
I wonder if the same insanity is playing out again. People protesting measures that save lives but are unconcerned about a the larger issue of an administration that is on record as favoring modern dictators and fascists.
Hopefully these psuedo-protesters are revealing to "middle America" that following these folks is to play the role of the rats that followed Pied Piper of Hamlin.

astroturfing organizations that spurred the Tea Party movement. I wonder whatever happened to those right-wingers who were so deathly opposed to debt and deficits under Obama?
Sure could have used them during Trump's series of enormous giveaways to the 0.01%. Now, the same super-richies feel a couple of million dead poor and middle-class people (especially those olds -- you had a good run, sorry, Grandma) are worth it to get the Dow Jones trending upward again.
I imagine it has not yet dawned on Tea Partiers what pitiful dupes they were.

Most of these people who were behind the 'straight pride' garbage last year are not even from MA they're from NH. They're not here for valid reasons they're the most basic of trolls looking for attention.
Regardless of which side you fall on with the current lockdown politically we should all agree that clowns from NH marching on our state house shouldn't be given the attention they crave.

Scary to think that these Trump supporters could start many new clusters of covid-19 infections when they return to their suburban homes and NH. Such a reckless disregard for their spouses, children, neighbors and essential workers. So many of us have taken personal responsibility for weeks if not months to stem the transmission of the virus and these selfish irresponsible fools can't be bothered to take any personal responsibility whatsoever. Gross. Lazy. Ignorant. Dangerous.

They should have stationed transit police at the entrance of Park street station and refused entrance to anyone not wearing a mask. Starting Wednesday all transit police officers should be assigned to busy stations like North and South station and refuse to allow anyone to board a train for not wearing a mask.

Such well-made professional designed signage. One has to wonder how all fo these disjointed people managed to pool their limited funds (being out of work) to afford such signs, flags, and all the rest.
You also have to wonder if any of them got a stipend or some other honorarium (case of toilet paper maybe?) along with some political action group paying for the signs.
Follow the money.

covid infections. Before the lockdown, Chinatown became a ghost town while the North End stayed busy.
Regardless, I doubt most of these protesters are motivated by racism, just easily gulled into believing a gigantic public health crisis is actually some kind of libertarian acid-test. Again, I'd be unsurprised to learn that many of these folks were stapling tea bags to their $3 Halloween-store tricorner hats a few years ago.
You can't fool all of the people all of the time, but a certain segment can reliably be conned again and again.

Funny how these clowns claim their constitutional rights are being denied because they're being forced to wear masks. Essentially every law in the books would be an assault on their rights.
Want to run around naked? Nope
Want to drive your car 120 mph? Nope
Want to build a shed on your property right on the property line? Nope.
Want to sell weed on the street? Nope
Laws are intended to be for the good of society, just like requiring masks in certain situations
