John in Eastie watched the storm rumble across downtown; reports it looks like Zeus got a direct hit on International Place.

Where is International Place again?
It's one of Philip Johnson's errors.

It's the Palladian palace located between High, Oliver, and Purchase streets. Johnson should probably have hung it up around then, but he went on to damage the Back Bay with the even more comically bad 500 Boylston St (That's the building across from Nordstrom Rack that looks like a Cheesecake Factory on steroids). It's sad that those uglies are a bookend on such an illustrious career in postmodernism. I really like most of his earlier work.

I miss the Revere Beach amusement park. It was my only reason to go/look north.

Philip Johnson actually admitted that it was an error. I forget the exact language, but he said it was x million square feet of office space that should not have been built there, but that he was a prostitute and got paid very well for designing it. Then, if I recall correctly, I think he got upset when he realized that the tape recorder was on and it got quoted in a magazine article.
When the elevated Central Artery was still there, one of the exit ramps came within 15 or 20 feet, and you could see down into the atrium. Someone on my tour bus looked at it, all lit up since it was after dusk, and commented, "What a beautiful building!" I almost gagged.

They just fade away, and become mediocre bureaucrats in the system they had planned to overthrow.

Who needs fireworks when nature puts on such great shows.
You can have lightning and fireworks at the same time!

The lightning bolt is God's comment. There is bigger lightning planned if he attempts to build the monstrosity at the Aquarium.
