Infamous Chelsea strip club torn down to make way for pot shop
By adamg on Thu, 06/11/2020 - 9:14am
The Chelsea Record reports King Arthur's Lounge was torn down last week.
It is being viewed in most every circle as a very positive end to a past most in Chelsea did not want to be associated with, including the shady strip club, many criminal assaults and even a murder.

never had the misfortune of going to king arthurs
but a coworker of mine went there frequently back in the day, joked that if you went there without a weapon, they loaned you a knife as you walked through the door.
It's like the old joke about Triple O's
The Shots are on the House...
old King Arthurs
The wife and I would go there a few times a year. Some of the central American patrons, would give more money to strippers that had stretch marks on their stomach. Because that showed child birth which they honoured.
Sean keep it up....
And your gonna pass Magoo for poster of the year.....
And FYI that might be the post of the year right there regardless .
Ick
Oversharing.
Believe It Or Not
That place had pheNOMenal clam strips and roast beef.
I was going to say. I once
I was going to say. I once went there for a late lunch and had an amazing RB sandwich while watching a girl who looked like Hamm Porter from the Sandlot slowly wander around topless.
Gentrification of vice.
Gentrification of vice.
That placed clocked at least
That placed clocked at least one mysterious death a year plus the infamous shooting between all those cops before I was born . I always hated that place... I've never stepped foot in there yet I have pages of stories about my tangles with them lol
When pot first become legal this was the first spot I thought if. Out of the way, easily findable. Easily seen.
Had actually set foot in there a couple of times, and
burned my shoes afterward. It was the Mos Eisley Spaceport of Chelsea.
Haha...
Franks Place, Ups and Downs, and the Oasis have a special place in my heart for bars where once you step in you are no longer in Boston any more.....
Well
Technically when you stepped into Oasis, you were in Dedham.
What's Ups 'n Downs?
People never stopped calling that place The Pony Room. My mom said there had been a "bucket of blood" bar there since she was young.
For Those Of You In The Dark About King Arthur's.....
This piece from the Globe from 2013 sums up the absolute insanity that took place there in 1982.
It was like all the people from the movie Den of Thieves got together and instead of robbing a bank got toasted amongst the LNG tanks and food sorting buildings, except they were uglier and dumber.

Drove by the club/ porno
Drove by the club/ porno trailer/ motel complex a thousand times when I was working at the airport- went once a number of years back- had one of the odder "stage" layouts I've ever seen in a gentlemen's club
Minor edit
I don't believe there were ever any true gentlemen in that place.
When that opens I’ll be
When that opens I’ll be looking forward to my rides to market basket
I'll never be able to look at
I'll never be able to look at flour the same way again.
Yeah, I'm surprised it lasted
Yeah, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.
Wonder if..
I wonder if the Squire and the Slipper are still open... ah, the good old days
the glass slipper is still,
the glass slipper is still, somehow, in business. not sure if they'll stay that way after the COVID 19 dust settles though. strip clubs don't seem like a good idea anymore...
Squire is still there.
Squire is still there. Somehow it avoids the crazy stuff that hung over King Arthur's. Maybe being in the middle of everything on the highway affects how tawdry things can get?

what a terrible trade off
