Two shot in Malcolm X Park
By adamg on Sat, 08/08/2020 - 11:16pm
Shortly after 11 p.m. One victim was found by the basketball courts, the second victim, shot in the chin, walked to Walnut Avenue to seek help.
On Wednesday night, shots were fired towards the basketball courts, possibly from Martin Luther King Boulevard.

I'm sure the Massachusetts
I'm sure the Massachusetts Bail Fund will ensure any "suspects" aren't subject to detention.
If you have no interest in
If you have no interest in supporting the community this affects then maybe there's no point in you chiming in.
Dont blame the Bail Fund
It's all on the judge. It's not up to the Bail Fund to second guess the judge.
Warren Avenue or Warren Sreet?
Warren Street is closer than Warren Avenue to Malcolm X Park.
Where is Warren Avenue
Where is Warren Avenue @Stephen of Roxbury?
Did you go to St. Joesph
I did. I went to st. Joseph
I did. I went to st. Joseph
Warren Avenue is in the South End
and nowhere near Malcolm X Park.
True, but
There is also a Warren Ave in Roxbury, at the south end of Malcolm X Park, intersecting with Malcolm X Blvd near there. This being Boston, there are numerous streets with the same names in different places, mostly because the city incorporated other cities over time and they had their own street names. For instance, JP has a School Street and a Boylston Street.
There is this thing called Google Maps. Maybe it can help you get your facts straight before you post incorrect information on social media.
Google Maps
Before I posted my comment, I typed "Warren Avenue, Roxbury MA" into Google Maps. It took me to Warren Street. I am looking now at Malcolm X Park and still not finding Warren Avenue there.
(Also, confusingly, the big road next to Malcolm X Park is MLK Blvd, while Malcolm X Blvd is a mile away in a different part of Roxbury.)
We had Washington Park...
...which became Malcolm X Park.
Malcolm X lived on Dale street near Walnut Ave.
The property was to become college student housing to keep it occupied.
Malcolm X Park borders on Washington Street.
Dudley Sq has been renamed Nubian Sq, but Dudley Street remains.
It runs from Eliot Sq to Uphams Corner as it has.
I knew there was a move to change Centre St to something recognizing the Latinx population.
It is news to me of the 2016 Latin Quarter designation for the area along Centre Street between Hyde and Jackson squares. Centre St. remains with the addition of "Avenida de las Americas" signs.
New Yorkers did not switch from calling the renamed Sixth Ave, the Avenue of the Americas.
New Yorkers didn't mind 6th
New Yorkers didn't mind 6th Avenue, except possibly the publishing houses and other Midtown businesses which wanted a grander name.
Really, though, I think the much stronger "won't switch", dig-in-heels resistance was to all the parkway/highway/bridge renaming. Folks didn't mind renaming the Interboro Parkway (really, I doubt most of them could find it) as the Jackie Robinson Parkway (though I do despise one weekend traffic&weather on the all-news station that kept calling it the Ja-Kaaay, like it was named for a syndicated talkshow host...). Renaming the West Side Highway as the Joe Dimaggio fell flat. Regular people still call the Triboro Bridge the Triboro Bridge, though the radio people dutifully call it the RFK Triboro. The most recent battleground has been the Tappan Zee (excuse me, "the Mario M Cuomo Bridge")
Give me back the Queensboro Bridge of Not the NYTimes fame.
What sticks in my craw is Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.
"The Queensboro Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge – because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th Streets – and officially named the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, is a cantilever bridge over the East River in New York City."
Mr. How am I doin'? always grated on me. "AIDS" "They sell death." Obnoxiousness.
Not the NYTimes was a replacement when NYT ceased publication over a printing press et al strike. It had April Fools like qualities: joggers collapse the Queensboro due to harmonic issues of all those resonant footfalls.
I experience a lot of indignities. National Airport becoming Reagan National Airport(RNA).
Cape Kennedy reverting by popular demand of locals to Cape Canaveral. Kennedy Space Center is all that's left. In Houston, Johnson Space Center remains until Trump scuttles it.
I suppose the Trump library will be in Florida.
Neither
Walnut Avenue. Thanks for pointing out the stupid mistake, now fixed.
Where is Warren Ave?
Warren Ave runs between Berkeley and Pembroke Streets.
At that end there is a triangular park. Harriet Tubman Sq. and monument to her.
What you would think is the continuation of Warren Ave. is Columbus SQ (street).
The third side of the park is Columbus Ave.
D4 Condos located at 7 Warren Avenue had been a D4 police station.
