Police: Man was parked in Dorchester with six guns, plenty of spare ammo, drugs, knife and $25,000 in cash, then he tried to run down officers, nearly smashed into several cars, crashed into light pole

Boston Police report arresting a local man on a variety of gun, drug and driving charges after a maniacal drive that started on Glenway Street in Dorchester and ended with him under arrest at Melnea Cass Boulevard and Massachusetts Avenue Saturday evening.

Police say officers on patrol spotted a car wanted for an earlier incident on Glenway Street. They watched as Michael McKoy, 35, got into the car and, as they radioed for backup, because they suspected he might be armed, watched him drive onto Old Road and then onto Columbia Road:

The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Columbia Road and Geneva Avenue. Along with additional responding units, officers activated their lights and sirens and initiated a traffic stop. As officers approached the vehicle, the operator suddenly reached down, placing the car into gear and stepped on the gas causing the car to lunge forward, striking several officers who were knocked to the ground and nearly pinned against the numerous vehicles in the area. Four officers were injured and one Boston Police cruiser was damaged. The suspect made good on his escape, fleeing through the light and continuing through the intersection onto Columbia Road.

Officers notified BPD Operations of the incident and continued to monitor the vehicle which was operating at an accelerated rate of speed while recklessly weaving in and out of traffic nearly striking multiple vehicles in the process.

Police say McKoy continued his evasive maneuvers, driving the wrong way down several one-way streets and not stopping at stop signs. Police called off the pursuit after he discarded something on Monadnock Street and something else under the overpass at Dudley and Humphreys Street and then continued to speed down Norfolk Avenue towards Hampden Street.

Officers broadcast the suspect’s location and as they approached the intersection of Norfolk Ave and Hampden Street, they observed the vehicle had crashed into a city light pole. Officers observed the suspect exit the vehicle through the passenger’s door. Officers exited their cruisers and immediately approached the suspect who was ordered to the ground. The suspect ignored officers’ commands and fled on foot down Hampden Street towards Melnea Cass Boulevard. Following a lengthy foot pursuit, officers eventually apprehended the suspect at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard.

A search of the car yielded:

A black and gray bag containing an Intratec Tec-9 firearm with a large capacity feeding device and an extended magazine, a Khar Arms CM .40 caliber firearm loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380 firearm loaded with six rounds of live ammunition, a Ruger LC9 loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition, a .380 Auto Diamondback firearm loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, and a .22LR model 999 Sportsman H+R firearm. Additionally, officers recovered one hundred and sixteen rounds of live ammunition, twenty-two plastic bags containing crack cocaine, one large plastic bag containing approximately 70.4 grams of heroin/fentanyl, a large hunting knife and a $25,000 in US Currency.

McKoy was charged with six counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, subsequent offense, four counts of carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, two counts of unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of a motor-vehicle accident causing person injury, leaving the scene of a motor-vehicle accident causing property damage, refusal to submit to a police officer, refusal to stop for a police officer, trafficking Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute. He also got a ticket for a variety of offenses, police say.

Three of the four officers he is charged with hitting were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Thank you for this.

Also, wonder if this is the same Michal McCoy of Dorchester? The age and time-line fits.

There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Despite all this the Massachusetts RMV won’t terminate his license. They want to make it easy for violent criminals to endanger people’s lives and traffic guns and drugs.

So suspending his license would have did what? Made it illegal for him to drive haha he obviously disregards the law at a much larger level than worrying about his license

A: I think the guy is scum and hope he and his friend are jailed bigly. Assuming they're found guilty, of course, and assuming Rollins argues for & gets no bail or appropriate bail.
That means he won't be free to use a driver's license.

B: How do you know the RMV won't act? It's only been like, a few hours.

C: Your one trick schtick is old & unconvincing.

Yes, I am certain that is exactly what the RMV wants.

...they didn't go all Dirty Harry on him (even though pretty justified) like would have been the case in too many other cities. Kudos to BPD. Now lets find out where he got the guns (especially!) and drugs.
