This was totally normal 50 years ago but now if you had a school with mostly staffed with women Muslim teachers wearing hijabs, it would be a whole thing.

If you look at old photos of white American's at the beach and the get-ups they used to wear, you realize how far we have come. Sometimes we see Somali families at the beach in Maine and they are dressed head-to-toe like a throwback to how we used to dress in public.

Lots of reasons to wear body suits at the beach, including sun exposure, jellyfish, and gravelrash. Divers in warm waters have worn these things for decades.
I ordered a suit for my aunt from a place in Australia, where many people fully cover to avoid the strong sun and skin cancer is rampant.
People also sport "modesty swimwear", including some evangelical Christians and those whose cultural backgrounds specify it. The SI swimsuit issue recently included a model sporting such gear.

...like their heads are in a starched keyhole are definitely Sisters of Providence, The order first appeared in Chelsea in the 1880’s at St.Rose of Lima School. They were primarily a healing order. The nun on the left though has different headgear (called a “coif” if I remember correctly). Don’t recognize it, however I think she’s the teacher & the other two sisters are visitors giving a lesson in dental hygiene

Thanks for playing, folks! This photo shows a Health Education Exhibit at the Parochial Teachers Institute at Boston College High in 1946. These nuns are likely not BC High teachers, but are from another area parochial school.

B.C. High teachers. While they are known as the "black robes," the Society of Jesus, who run B.C. High, is an all male order.
