WBZ dispatched grizzled reporter Bill Shields down to Hyde Park today in search of the unstuffed murderbird rampaging through the Westminster Avenue area. Fortunately, because of Covid-19, Shields was equipped with a microphone on a boom, with which he was able to fend off the angry avian long enough to make his escape.

As was explained to me by some regulars here a few months ago, just because you see something on the WBZ news, unless it is somewhere on the internet, it didn’t happen. I’m not calling you a liar, but based on the standards others apply, you might be seen as such.

Where is the TLF? Shouldn't they be explaining how this is a righteous protest on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the European Invasion of their ancestral homelands?
Sorry

Magoo favors Benjamin Franklin’s desire to have the turkey as a national symbol. It is a majestic creature and is belittled by all of these posts. Magoo.
For once Magoo makes sense.

Franklin and the Turkey

Franklin never suggested the Turkey to be the national symbol. It's an urban legend.
Maybe.

In a letter to his daughter Sarah, Franklin extolled the virtues of the turkey over the eagle. He thought the Eagle was a terrible symbol for the country. Interestingly enough, Franklin wanted the great seal of the US to feature Moses! I wonder how that would go over in today's society.

Is anyone else here old enough that hearing she beat back the turkey with her purse reminded you of Ruth Buzzi on Laugh-In?

I'm not that old, but I do remember Ruth Buzzi played spinster Gladys Orumphy, who often beat Arte Johnson's character, Mr. Horneigh (horn-eye) with her purse after he said something suggestive. Or, if she was on Dean Martin's roasts, she would take a few whacks of her purse at Dean or the male Man of the Week/Hour.
