I emailed the shop, and this is what I heard back:

Thanks for your email. At the present time the shop is closed. I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. It is our intention to reopen the shop early spring after we have made some changes to both our product line and the shop itself. I hope to see you there at that time.

I noticed it was closed on Friday, but figured it was Veteran's day, although that was a little weird. My wife said it had been closed earlier in the week.

After a little sleuthing I discovered...

* JP store phone number is disconnected.
* If you call the brookline (wash sq) store there's a recording that says they are "closed for the winter"
* The person who answered the Roslidale store phone said the business had been sold

Some people may remember the controversy before these guys moved into the old Brighams in JP. It would be too bad if they "shut down for the winter" and leave a lot of perfectly good real estate. If they were going bust it's probably because too many people were there surfing the web and not buying anything ;)

Try JP licks or Fiores. And JP STILL needs a nice coffee place similar to 1369 in cambridge-- somewhere that doesn't blast classic rock satellite radio for one thing!

Damn, that's too bad. JP needs more coffee places, not fewer. It's really lacking in hang out, sit down spots that aren't pubs.

Sign in the JP window says they will re-open in March with exciting new food items and late night menu, apologies for the short notice, etc. etc. What's the rest of the business plan I wonder!
