Dorchester man faces gun charges after parking-space dispute

Boston Police report arresting a man they say waved a gun around during a parking-spot argument on Fermoy Heights Avenue early this morning.

Police say Ezekiel Tejada, 22 years, of Dorchester, was one of four people in an SUV whose driver pulled into a space outside 13 Fermoy Heights Ave., shortly after 1:45 a.m. Only problem: It was not the drivers, and the occupants of a residence there came out to ask them to move.

As the victims walked back to their residence, the individuals from the SUV began yelling at them, and one of the passengers raised his arm holding what appeared to be a silver revolver.

The residents called police. Not long after, officers spotted the SUV at American Legion Highway and Kingbird Street, several blocks away, near the Brooke High School.

An exit order was issued to all passengers. Officers observed that the rear passenger who was seated behind the passenger seat fit the victim’s description of the suspect. Further investigation revealed a silver revolver underneath the front passenger seat. The firearm, a Colt .38 Special was loaded with four live rounds in the chamber.

Tejada was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and assault with a dangerous weapon, police say

Innocent, etc.

Is this yet another instance of space savers leading to violence? What a great system, Mayor Walsh!

Menino first established the policy. Wimpy Walsh just went along with it.

It needs to go. I say that even though as a cyclist and pedestrian and even as a driver I appreciate how this system reduces the number of on street parking spots and therefore reduces sight, dooring and other hazards.

before taking a spot that someone busted their ass shoveling out.

Maybe, maybe not.
The article makes no mention of space savers, clearing spots, or on-street parking.
It just refers to a "space outside" such-and-such address - which could refer to a building driveway or parking lot (actual assigned/reserved parking spots) as easily as to street parking (and space savers).
-
The building that Google matches with the address (though the visible unit numbers are different) has some off-street parking..

The gun puller had an issue with the space saving.

Just saying.

Are you really ignoring the GUN part of this story to argue against someone busting their ass to make sure they have a parking spot - perhaps for an older parent or whatever - doesn’t matter. The 22 year old had a LOADED GUN. In a community where there is daily gun violence! Holy Christ!

But not with the would-be space stealer pulling the gun.

Everyone knows space saver arguments are solved with baseball bats.

You mean this doesn’t happen in your neighborhood? Like every year?

Was this an on-street space, or an assigned space in the building's parking lot?

That a dispute about a parking space at an address with a parking lot for the residents might not have anything to do with the snow?

Now, now. The owner of this website has a thing about space savers after snow storms. Let’s not get in the way of the narrative with facts that might contradict it.

Well, even if it was an assigned space, the snow doesn't help. People are more likely to use an assigned space without permission because of the difficulty finding a street space right now.
