Police arrest Jamaica Plain man on drug charges; say he had a pound of cocaine and more than $260,000 at his Armstrong Street home

Boston Police report finding the cocaine and cash - plus marijuana - during a raid at 25 Armstrong St. yesterday afternoon.

Police say they obtained a search warrant for the house after arresting resident Osvaldo Medina, 33, at the culmination of "a lengthy drug investigation."

Medina was charged with trafficking more than 200 grams of cocaine, distribution of Class A and B drugs (second and subsequent offense) and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, police say.

This is a residential street next to an elementary school in an owner-occupied triple decker. Hyde Square/Jackson Square borderline.

Doesn't really matter. It's still a lot of drugs wherever it is.

Who is this "likely" next mayor of whom you speak and in what way is he/she different that would provide an opportunity for "these small businesses" to revive themselves? Are you suggesting this guy is violent because he is Latin or a drug dealer? I didnt read anything about violence here. Just a guy selling drugs. Which shouldnt be illegal at all.

Maybe drugs shouldn’t be illegal, but the reason this guy is cleaning up is because they are. I’d bet he’s not in the drug trade because of ideals, but rather a depraved lack of them. The irony when people point out that we should end prohibition in the context of stories like these (a position that I’m sympathetic to) is that this fellow himself would almost certainly *support* continued prohibition - at least prior to getting busted. It’s what kept him in business!

Cocaine is a product of ultra violent cartels who prop up violent regimes. This individual may be a pacifist, but the supply chain is very violent.

I ask again, why do you think the next mayor will be sympathetic to coke dealers?

You realize that's the site of the current DA, right?

Also - you may have missed the part there about "getting supervisor permission" - prosecutors still have the ability to prosecute these charges if they deem it appropriate. Why not wait and see if this guy actually has his charges dropped before you start complaining about it?

Tell me how it would be worse if junkies and coke heads could just go to the liquor store or CVS instead of this dude's house or whatever sketchy arrangement he's providing... Whatever violence is associated with the drug trade is caused by drug prohibition
