WBZ reports the snor'easter washed zillions of clams up onto Revere Beach, providing an all-you-can-eat buffet for area gulls. The station cautions the clams are not good eatin' for people, though - they might be contaminated.

The reason for the warning is the water there's so polluted. That wouldn't have been a problem for the natives.

Revere Beach still is the only beach I know of with a strange foam.
But then again, people seem to eat the Clams at Constitution Beach in Eastie. You know the one... at the end of Runway R22 . Mmmmmmmm Yum.. Jet Fuel Carbons.

While “native” is generally not considered offensive, it may still hold negative connotations for some. If you are referencing a specific group, it is generally considered more respectful to use another term that more specifically denotes which peoples you are referring to.

I used to hear this all day, every winter day when I worked in the Navy Yard.
The gulls would take a shelfish, fly up high, then drop it.
The walkways were littered with shells and other former shellfish spooge.
