Footage?
Is there video anywhere of the weather balloon stunt? I've always wondered about that; I'm always told how amazing it was, but I never thought -- based on the photos I've seen -- that it looked that impressive.*
I want to be proven wrong.
*Yes, I realize that sneaking onto a field, digging up the sod without damaging it and putting a balloon underneath set to remotely inflate isn't exactly what one would call a cakewalk, but still...
Don't forget
That was in 1982... when day-glo legwarmers, Pac-Man, and an MTV moon landing looked impressive, too. (And three years *before* Dire Straits knocked our socks off with amazing, computer-generated cartoons of appliance repairmen.)
I don't think we can look back on anything from the pre-CGI world and know if it was cool anymore.
Pre-CGI cool
You'll just have to our word for it--it was cool.
