By the looks of that, I would not have guessed that there were survivors.

But could speed have been a factor?

Just because the signs say 203 on the road, that doesn't mean it is the speed limit.

This road is hell. Slow the F down. The lights are timed you dumbarses.

Out of Danvers. Very sad.

Of course they was speeding because a car going 25 wouldn’t be wrecked like that assuming this was a one vehicle crash. Whoever is responsible should have their license terminated.

I work in the area, and crossing Gallivan Blvd to catch the Route 21 bus back to Forest Hills is a crapshoot. Even though the State Police are responsible for that road (since the MDC days) people still shoot down either direction as if it were an extension of I-93. (IIRC, the speed limit is 30, but it never seems to be enforced.)

EDIT: That particular area is on a hill, and while going up towards Dorchester Avenue is somewhat slower, going towards the fire station is where people pick up speed.

The right lane of that road is regularly used as a parking lot, since no one seems to enforce traffic violations there. So ontop of dealing with all the speeders, you have to swerve around, or get stuck behind those too damned lazy to not park in an active lane. A mess.

The fact that the car was completely demolished and the three people had to be cut out of it with the jaws of life indicates that excessive speed was a factor, as it is in most motor vehicular crashes. Operating at too great a speed for existing conditions is how most accidents occur, and it looks like this crash was no exception. It's possible that the driver may have been DUI, as well, but who knows.

The fact that they even made it to the hospital and/or are alive is just pure luck!

And a bad driver.

No story on how the crash happened and you all are ripping the victims to shreds. Unreal.

someone is responsible. will they be held responsible? probably not. the only way this driver will lose their license is if they can’t pay the speeding ticket they won’t get for this heinous crash.

Here is to hoping the victim loses his or her license permanently.

Of course they will just get a pat on the back with a try better next time.

This isn't a road none of us are familiar with - we've driven it. We have cars, we know what it takes to wreck one like that. This was not a 25 MPH accident - of course speed was a factor. This was a professional truck, not a passenger car, which means this driver has higher standards held to their driving - this why it's worse when a bus driver or a deliver truck Storrows instead of a dumb college student who doesn't know better - professional drivers are expected to know better. They behaved in a reckless manner doing their job, endangering others - people are allowed to criticize this. When the "news" came out that Tiger Woods' accident had speed as a factor, who was surprised? OF COURSE IT DID! You don't bend a car in half going the speed limit. When you see an SUV on it's roof on Comm Ave in Newton, you know that they cornered too fast - OF COURSE THEY WERE SPEEDING. No one is saying the driver deserves to die but it doesn't take a lot of brain power to figure out that speed was definitely a factor in this accident. When the BPD issues a statement in 3 weeks saying the same thing, no one on this page will be surprised or shocked.

ch 5 saying

A home heating oil delivery truck was also involved.

this might somewhat explain the heavy damage.

Thankfully it wasn’t a gasoline truck.

Otherwise, none of the people in the car would've lived to tell the tale.

For example, they'd likely survive if it was a gasoline truck and there was no spillage, or if there was spillage that didn't ignite. Or if it ignited and no one was burned or near the burning gasoline. There are probably many scenarios where a gasoline truck could have been involved and the people in the car would have lived to tell the tale.

Looking at the remains of that vehicle, it's amazing that anyone made it to the
hospital! I hope they all make it out again as well!

NOT ART

But possibly a miracle.

Advances are a more likely reason they survived the crash.
