The tree wizard of Franklin Park lives again

Tree wizard of Franklin Park

"Worry not for me for I am immortal." See it larger.

Earlier this month, as people were beginning to notice fires being set in Franklin Park, whether intentionally or through cigarette carelessness, a Jamaica Plain resident discovered that among the victims was the tree wizard that had long sat in the hollow of a tree in the park's Wilderness area off Forest Hills Street - not just set on fire, but hacked up as well.

Alex Cook, who knows something about outdoor art, went out a few days ago and rebuilt and repainted the tree wizard.

Painting on trees isn't cool either.

But it looks like a piece added in to an existing hollow. I suspect this artist did not paint the tree.

Tree wizard and some of his various other friends have always creeped the fuck out of me, but they've been there for years.

The Unofficial Franklin Park Research Outpost was a much more interesting contribution to the park.

Thank God he put a sign by it. Just wandering up on that thing with no explanation would be extra creepy.
