Air conditioners for people who move around a lot

Rent an AC will rent you an air conditioner for between $125-$299 per summer. Given how much air conditioners cost these days, it doesn't seem like a particularly good deal, unless you're really lazy, don't have a place to put the thing in the fall, are deathly afraid of dropping it out the window (they do provide installation by "trained professionals") or are tired of lugging a big heavy unit around when you move every September.

Hey if I lived in an apartment and planned on moving allot I think I would go in for a small one (I assume the 125 is the smallest one.) Everything you move and store has a cost you do not see up front. Someone in a small apartment with no storage may really be down for something like this, also added bonus points if they are not handy. Just think how much it would cost just to have a general handy man come to the apartment just to install one of these things, or even if you just had your handy friend do it your still out like 20 bucks because of course you would have to spring for pizza and beer for the night.

The air conditioner falling out of the window is one of my biggest fears. No, seriously.

Seems like too much money for a rental.

Where is the smart window manufacturer that makes a window designed to hold an AC better? I would think that at least some people would spend the extra cash if they knew the AC was not going to fly out the window.
