Out-of-state sub shop opening up next to out-of-state pizza place in Brighton

Boston Restaurant Talk reports Jersey Mike's Subs is opening up at 466 Washington St., right next to a Domino's.

Jersey Mike's is one of the better sub shop chains IMO, but it seems about as necessary in Eastern Mass. as a Red Lobster.

Calling Dominos an "out-of-state pizza place" is offensive to pizza.
Call it an "out-of-state, processed bread-cheese-vegetable substitute" or something to differentiate it from actual pizza.

...set up a store in Chestnut Hill Mall. Apizza, which was supposed to come to downtown Boston, doesn't seem to have ever appeared (coronavirus epsidemic victim perhaps).

The chains are for the tourists who want a familiar place to eat. God forbid they try local 'trash' cuisine.

Not just for tourists
No tourist is going to be ordering from that Domino's (maybe some parents lost on their way to drop off the kid at BC?). Ditto for the TWO Domino's in Roslindale.
The sad fact is Domino's customers walk among us.
Ed. note: While away at college, all the way at the other end of the state, the kidlet once tried Domino's pizza (it was late, it was open, what can you say?). She vowed to not repeat that experience.
There are parts of the world
There are parts of the world where Domino's is the least offensive of the bad pizza options- Ohio and large swathes of California would fit that bill for me
Newcomers
I would think it's people who aren't from here and go with the name they've heard of before. I run a moving company, and occasionally a client will offer to buy a pizza for the guys, and 90% of the time it's Domino's. Of course our clients tend to be immigrants, especially from South Asia. I've concluded that people from India love Domino's.

well, since Domino's just reported yesterday that their Q2 revenue in the US was 1.03 billion dollars, i think the answer to that question is: lots of people

This maybe short lived
These seem to be popping up all around Boston however a few years back Quiznos did the same thing and they are all gone now with the closest being in Orange, CT. In fact there was one in the same block https://foursquare.com/v/quiznos-sub/4adca4d8f964a5203a2e21e3

Jersey Mike's was at Valenti
Jersey Mike's was at Valenti Way entrance at North Station for a couple of years then closed before Covid. That was a few years ago and now it still remains empty commercial space with a mini Methadone Mile outside. They won't last in the new spot, unless their lawyers somehow strategically negotiated a lease until there are no more construction workers to keep them alive during their lunch break.
Thoroughly disappointed
Wife and I were excited to try Jersey Mike’s last week but were both thoroughly disappointed. Her tuna sub was a soggy mess, my ham & cheese was tasty but very light on fillings, and the cost was outrageously expensive for how light they were. We will never go back. Total waste of real estate in our opinion.
Best subs on the planet were at Big Mike’s in Madison, WI, which became the Milio’s chain. Maybe someday Brighton will get one.

Light on fillings? Not any real Jersey Mike's. I hope a bad manager/franchisee didn't slip through training.
...and no, I don't know anyone that would go to Jersey Mike's for tuna salad.
