Revels cut short

The Christmas Revels, held annually in Harvard's Sanders Theatre, usually continue for several days after Christmas. This year, the show was scheduled to close on December 29. Instead, tomorrow's performances will be the final ones for 2021:
Regrettably, and with the safety of our cast, crew, and audience in mind, Revels has made the difficult decision to cancel our six post-Christmas performances (Dec 26 – Dec 29). We encourage you to join us virtually for our extended run, streaming December 30 – January 9.
From all of us at Revels, best wishes for a safe, happy, and healthy 2022. We look forward to returning to Sanders next year to celebrate the holiday season with you as only Revels can!

A Christmas show on January
A Christmas show on January 9th. Yikes. Do they also do April Fools pranks in May?
The *virtual* (recorded, streaming) performance ends January 9
The live performances at Sanders Theatre, as I said in my post, were scheduled to end on Wednesday, December 29. Now they will end tomorrow night instead.
By the way, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" end with Epiphany on January 6.
January 6 is the Feast of the Epiphany
January 9 is the following Sunday, so not stretching it more than 3 days. Your perspective has been altered by secular marketing for "Christmas in July" and "Black Friday" sales in November, advertised in September and October.
A lot of
Christmas shows or displays end well after Christmas. Not everyone gets time off to travel or see family/friends to celebrate Christmas on Christmas, or before Christmas. Many people are still traveling and celebrating Christmas into January.
I can remember doing many a Christmas event as a kid with my cousins over New Years, for example, because that's when our families had time to visit. Many of our essential workers who make sure your Christmas happens on time are among the folks celebrating Christmas at a later date.
Plus since a lot of venues have adopted dynamic pricing, shows/displays running into January adds more dates with lower ticket fees that allow people who can't or don't want to shell out the full price. It's really a win win for everyone.
