The Herald reports that Sgt .Cottone and some friends ate in a Boylston St. pizzeria while refusing to show vaccination status.
“I’m enjoying a product that I purchased here so you’re going to leave me alone or I’m going to sue you each individually,” Cottone said in an exchanged captured on video with two officers who asked to see her vaccine card while she sat with friends unmasked inside a Pizzeria Regina on Boylston Street. During a nearly hourlong video, Cottone and several other woman sit and eat two large pizzas in violation of the city’s new vaccine policy. Cottone calls the officers a “disgrace” and “naughty boys” and says they’re “wasting taxpayer dollars” to “babysit.” “History has shown, goose steppers like you trample on the rights of the innocent,” Cottone said. The cops let the group finish their meal before escorting them out.

I have to ask

Does Sergeant Cottone even want to be a cop?
There's some anti-police phrases she chose to use in this interaction that suggest she does not care for law enforcement, and would then not be a great person to be both a police officer, and a supervisor in the field of other police officers.

In terms of remaining with the BPD, not quite sure how she comes back from all this, no matter what the outcome.
I personally think she’s a piece of shit and pretty unstable. Don’t think I’m alone either.

There are a few officers every year who want to get out but don't want to work after either. They usually come from a place where they lost a discipline decision and will do anything to get back at those who they perceived wronged them. Now police departments aren't the only ones who have "toxic" employees, but Cottone is going past the point of no return on this one. Her fate will most likely fall into the hands of a Civil Service arbitrator (HEAVILY slanted towards employees) and if she is lucky a court will rule in her favor. But if you look at the link there are playbooks for employees who want to disrupt everything.
Anyway to answer your question, no, I don't think she wants to be a cop anymore.

By CopleyScott17
Tue, 01/18/2022 - 11:09am
No one is arresting people for not getting vaccinated. The offense is failing to comply with public health mandates. If you don't want the vaccine, the rest of us don't want you near us. We're not arresting you, we're avoiding you.
Do you really not understand the difference?

Trespassing is a criminal offense. Remaining on private property after being asked to leave by the owner’s representative is trespassing.

By brianjdamico
Tue, 01/18/2022 - 8:33am
in the Herald's story:
If I'm to understand the new policy, the burden is on the establishment to ensure patrons are in compliance before seating or serving them; we're not stationing a cop at the door of every restaurant in the city. So why was she served by the restaurant if she wasn't in compliance? And then the police were called? The vaccine mandate isn't a criminal statue, so arrest for non-compliance of the mandate itself isn't feasible.
The other questions to be asked are: what procedures has the city and the BPD specifically outlined for dealing with these issues, how many other incidents involving the new mandate also resulted in a police response, and how were those ones handled?
I’m guessing here

But probably because she would have made, or did make a big scene and serving her was the less confrontational approach. Seems like the city is sticking it to the owners to do their dirty business, again.

By anon
Tue, 01/18/2022 - 8:54am
they have the right to ask her to leave for not meeting the vaccine mandate and then if she refuses, have her escorted out or arrested for trespassing. The fact that she's a cop is intimidation in itself for the establishment, however, making their ability to enforce the mandate more difficult. She should have been taken out by the cops but they won't do that to one of their own. Non compliance with the mandate should be made a fineable offense - the state health department can make mandates that are enforceable by law and they were also codified at the beginning of all of this, allowing the police to enforce. They're pandering to businesses and save money on the police enforcement, putting the businesses at risk of being fined. She needs to be booted but the problem is bigger than one asshole eating pizza.

As for why was she served... I watched the nearly one hour stream which did not show the initial events but did state that she tried to pay for bottled water and was refused so she stuck that money in the tip jar (and later used that to claim she'd paid).
So maybe she walked in and self served the water from a cooler?
Later in the video she tells one of her companions to go outside and get somebody. And they would pick up the pizza which was under her name.
So maybe she called in an order for pickup (or ordered and paid on app) but then refused to leave once she had it in hand via that person that collected the cooked pizza and handed it to her.
The police that responded to the call were steadfastly avoiding any physical confrontation that she surely wanted to then be able to call them goose-stepping enforcers of tyranny (which are phrases she used repeatedly).
Her behavior throughout videod hour was an unsettling mixture of careful planning, vengeful seething anger, condescension, and unhinged personality.
She probably used her status

Much has been made of how tough it is to fill these jobs, where you have to be the front line with these wanna-be heroes. The person at the register in a pizza shop isn't paid enough to fight those fights, even as you jump up and down and yell "but it's the Law!"

For those loyal UHub readers unfamiliar with the Sovereign Citizens, 1st Amendment Auditors or other alleged 1% groups, please know that the main goal here is not to prove a point or exercise their freedums where they would normally be curtailed but to insert themselves into situations where a law enforcement response would be required. This response is usually recorded, edited appropriately and then posted to the many social media platforms that optimize for sensationalism in order to drive engagement.
A video of a tense situation with the police while fighting the system is a lot more exciting than a cooking tutorial or pouring water on your head so the platform will feed it to a wider audience, monetize it to advertisers and then share a percentage with the content creator. In short, Cottone is behaving like this because it pays her too.
My only question is it paying more than she would make living the dull life of a regular cop and for how long. I assume she has a GoFundMe campaign going and some other form of solicitation going but I haven't been bothered to look. Most of these folks are borderline to begin with so they're mostly living in transitional housing or out of their cars so the outlook for success is bleak and once those arrests start piling up, well you probably know where that leads to.
She'll never be a cop again, at least not in Boston or Massachusetts and her recent activities along with her checkered employment history are going to follow her wherever she goes, so she might as well commit 100% to the grift she's working and hopefully land a recurring role as a police analyst on a fake news network. There's along list of these "fired for their beliefs" people so I'm guessing competition will harder once she loses that legitimacy of being actually employed in an official capacity and since she appears to be on the lower end of the competency spectrum her chances at success will fade along with the annoyance at pandemic avoidance measures.
Traveling from the suburbs every day to eat at Boston's finest restaurants and harass the employees will get too expensive and time consuming after awhile and coupled with the dimming of her notoriety will eventually force a change in tactics on her behalf. One can hope that she'll come to her senses and retreat into ignominy to spend more time with her online friends while she sues the city, which would be the best financial outcome for her, or if indeed she's actually lost it then we'll see an escalation in her behavior while she pushes the envelope towards physical confrontations and beyond.
There is no movement behind her, just a bunch of losers egging her on with donations because they want to feel the outrage of seeing her arrested or worse and then they'll move on to their next pseudo activist. Remember the name of the woman who got shot last year at the Capitol? Yeah, I don't. That's the way Shana Cottone is going to end up. Let's just hope she does it peacefully in her hometown and far away from Boston.

Cottone promotes death of police officers
By Sock_Puppet
Wed, 01/19/2022 - 1:49pm
2021 saw the highest number of police officer deaths in the line of duty since 1930. The reason was COVID.
https://nleomf.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/2021...
Any other political argument that justified the death of police officers at this scale would have police officers up in arms. All the unregistered guns, all the gangs, all the procedural restrictions, all the revolving door courts in the country, together, have done less to kill police officers in 2021 than COVID.
Clean house, folks.

Gorsuch apparently has the same affliction that makes him think he is 1) naturally immune to a deadly disease, and 2) that somehow his presence makes other people, including folks more likely to fall more ill, also somehow immune.
Extreme behaviors, self-exceptionalism, conduct that does not meet criteria for mental disease, but behaviors which are equally dangerous to others if not self, make for fascinating thought. What combinations of emotional, mental and intellectual attributes help them rationalize what is clearly irrational, and frankly dangerous behaviors?
Sometimes it is the result of active alcoholism or the addictive substance. Sometimes it is the result of growing up in extremely dysfunctional environments, whether the dysfunction is based on alcoholism or other causes. In any case Cottone and Gorsuch make for a partners of dangerous behaviors that don't meet criminal criteria.
Is Cottone Gay? That makes her a seriously interesting political bedmate with Gorsuch.
We can only hope that people such as Cottone and Gorsuch at some point realize that they are not unique, special and exceptional, but that they are just like everyone else. Which includes that they have the same responsibility to respect others as everyone does. That includes wearing masks during a global, (hopefully) once in a century pandemic, where there are proven preventatives and treatments.
But Gorsuch may have an "excuse." He suffers daily exposure to the same mental disfigurement that affected Scalia, Thomas etc. The belief that they are superior.
