I could see her doing well in that position

She hasn’t used her law degree for many years, no?

I'll be dead by the time women can break through the barriers. But I do congratulate her and wish her the best. Government is like the Hollywood film industry. Acting and directing and producing controlled by men with money, power, and deep rooted connections with other men with money, power, and deep rooted connections.

to hold this position. There are barriers yet to be broken (such as being elected Governor), but this is not one of them.

I agree with your assessment but she is the second consecutive woman to hold the office. Riley came before Coakley. I presume maybe you were thinking of Shannon O'Brien who was treasurer (another MA position filled by a woman and not for the first time.)

You are right, the governor's office remains the hold out but I presume that may change in the fall.
