Richard Beaubien reports the Frog Pond carousel was originally supposed to be up for a two-week test go-round. But it already seems like a Common tradition:
Right now it's only running until about 9pm. Still it's a really nice addition to summer evenings. Word is if all goes well, it may become a permanent fixture. How can you help? Well if you're down there spend a couple of bucks to put the lid on the ride. And call 617-635-2120 or email [email protected]. Let them know that you like it.

I think the carousel is lovely, but I'd like to still keep the POND part of Frog Pond. Lots of fun for city kids in summer. What are the plans?
Wouldn't hurt to copy

I clicked the link and that's what it said, something on an official city site discussing the scent of burning wood, and a carousel, or carolers, or something,

Generally they open the pond itself near the end of June, just prior to the 4th of July weekend. The carousel is on the far end well away from the large sprinkler/fountain that folks sit near during those hot summer days. It really adds another dimension to the place.
How Nice!

This is a great addition to the Common. Not only is it a just a fun and silly thing to do on a warm summer evening but a great way to keep the Common busy and safer for folks out for a stroll or just cutting through.
There are at least 2 spots in Paris I can think of that have a restored carousel and I bet the surrounding cafés and bistros benefit from the extra foot traffic.
