Five anti-vaxxers outside the mayor's house first to get fines under new ordinance

WFXT reports five of the bucket bangers who congregate outside Mayor Wu's Roslindale home most mornings were issued tickets under the new ordinance - which the City Council passed on Wednesday and Wu promptly signed - which prohibits targeted protesting outside somebody's house before 9 a.m.

Catherine Vitale, a regular protester outside of Wu’s home, told The Boston Globe in a statement that protesters did not know the ordinance had taken effect Friday.

Concerned citizen not concerned/sentient enough to know the rules.

Maybe after 4 years of constant lies from Trump et al., the average person's ability to tell believable lies is lost. It's as though Trump and company exhausted the public psychic supply of lying during their 4 years of being political parasites.

They knew what they were doing and posted evidence that they were going to argue this in court.

Her public timeline is full of knowing about the ordinance including going to the City Council meeting when it was passed. She appears to have nothing to do all day except protest Wu and hang out in the North End.

She's a nut. Sadly it appears she either has kids or is an aunt or something. Hopefully the kids figure out she's a nut too.

A Catherine Vitale/Donnie Palmer, CTE primary race would be appointment viewing

Burke wants to run against Lynch in the 8th - dude looks like he was voted "Most Likely To Throw Rocks At A School Bus Filled With Black Kids" in the mid-70s.

the same thing. I only know the acronym from medicine, where it's the abbreviation for the horrible brain damage football players suffer from. (The thing that killed Junior Seau) So possibly this is a brain-damage joke?

Yeah, there's zero chance they didn't know about this, as they are absolutely the catalysts for this ordinance. Taking a fine early just starts the clock on what is certainly going to be a series of cases and appeals to challenge this on 1A grounds. We're a lawyer-heavy area and surely there's somebody out there willing to take this on to make a name for themselves.

I think these protestors are boors, but they are boors with constitutional rights like all other Americans. Now we just wait and see what the justice system says about that.

This is America. Either pay up or get out. No matter how lawyer rich a region I doubt if they would find a lawyer who knows the law and the legal system sufficiently to argue for them - at no cost. And so the old saying applies: Follow the money. That helps teach us who is behind these clowns.

Fines for protesters is a standard practice across the world.

Tell me what the fines for protesting are like in your area of the world.

Says the world traveler. I'd be surprised if you've ever been farther from your little cabbage patch than Pawtucket and the nearest New Hampshire liquor outlet.

At what time were they cited? That 9am cutoff is pretty late in the morning.

Boston police confirmed that five people were fined for violating the new ordinance at about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Starting to wonder whether these anti-vaxxers aren't going to pay the price when the partisan gap in COVID deaths becomes enough to swing close elections.

but I don't think it'll make a difference in practice. The gender gap was supposed to be strong enough in 2016 to hand Hilary a 100-point EV victory, and we saw how that turned out. The GOP is going to stick by its tried-and-true formula, and turn out the Boomers in unrelenting torrents to vote against their own interests. Meanwhile, the Dems will continue to court centrists by trying to cozy up to the GOP, and then go full Surprised Pikachu when they get their asses handed to them in battleground states.

Namely, the GOP trying as hard as possible to make it impossible for anyone but their own constituents to vote. Doesn't matter what Biden's turnout is if the GOP-controlled state legislatures succeed in getting all those votes thrown out.

What’s the enforcement mechanism for these fines? I doubt the court system will show much interest.

These are the exact same scumbags that raided the Capitol on January 6. They need a one-way trip to PRISON, not jail but PRISON, and wait for their trial there. I heard rumors that Guantanamo Bay is still open...

Not only are these anti-vaxxers spreading dangerous misinformation, thus preventing the United States, as a whole, from achieving herd immunity, and also resulted in close to a million unnecessary deaths here in the United States, but they're being vicious and nasty pests by going and protesting outside the mayor's house, especially so early in the morning.

These anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists must be stopped, as they're presenting a real danger to our society right now.
