Update: The Globe reports the two people in the car were hospitalized and the the brawl may have started when the dirtbikers through rocks at the car.
DinkerDunkerJones was among the diners at Lucy's American Tavern at Granite Avenue and Gallivan Boulevard in Dorchester who suddenly had front-row seats to a brawl that followed what appeared to be a driver ramming a dirt biker on purpose at the McDonald's across the street this afternoon:

Broken tweet if you’re not logged in to Twitter

Adam, you might not be aware of this, but Twitter has seemingly started “cracking down†on readers who don’t have a Twitter account, and most tweets are blocked if you’re not signed in - specifically tweets are being replaced by a splash page, forcing you to log in or create an account if you want to read the tweet.
I can’t see what the article’s embedded tweet says: the text appears for a half second and gets replaced by a button inviting me to “Explore what’s happening on Twitter†with a link to log in. This is true even in incognito mode.
I don’t have a good answer since screenshotting everything is annoying. But due to an apparent change in Twitter policy, embedded Tweets no longer work for many readers. I got rid of my Twitter account a while ago due to privacy/psychological concerns, and don’t intend on coming back, but I am concerned about being blocked from a lot of information about current events.
In this case ...

I also noticed the force login to read some Twitter posts but apparently it is not universal (yet) since I can still see some that are "public." The suggestion is that maybe the Twitter account has limited access to those following them in some way, or people they follow.
Making matters worse, you don't need your password to login.
I use a Chrome browser (desktop) and have saved some passwords to the browser database to make logins a little quicker. When confronted with the forced login page I usually get a pop up screen that wants me to login and presents the account user name. It then wants me to enter the password to validate the login. So on a whim I "X"'d out the screen to see what had happened, and it did in fact login the account without that password validation. I've since repeated this.
So it is logging me in without typing a password and of course I have to physically log out after I find where they hid the logout button this month.
I don't think they are getting this from the saved passwords in my browser, and as noted I manually and fully logout, so the fact that their system is logging me in suggests that this is built in to the link to the post somehow.
Lots of security questions there.

Given the choice between "violent overreaction by car driver to imagined offense from dirt bikers" and "violent overreaction by car driver to actual injury/damage/crash (at some previous point up the road) caused by dirt bikers" - it's not any stretch of the imagination (to anybody who has experienced the dirt-biker wilding in the neighborhood) to believe it's the latter.

Power of television

A video that is as good as any drama on streaming narrative story telling (i.e., television, movies and video games). Better in the one aspect that this is real. More real than reality tv. With each person who owns a phone a potential videographer, producer, director, etc. where will the uploads of real life take us?
Vietnam was fought inside the US on television. The riots of the late 60s came into the "safe and secure" middle class homes via television. Yet in both situations there were mediators: government mediators who tried to prevent media showing the results of war. Corporate mediators deciding what they believed was acceptable and sufficient as their news products (i.e., evening and late night news). Even newspapers were still mediated by editors and publishers and the advertisers who bought space on the page.
Is this kind of news distribution - like this video - part of a democratization of news?
Taking away from the traditional mediators what is sold or given as news?
The impact on newspapers is obvious. Devastation. But what about television news? And what about the overall impact when anyone can be a news reporter?
Prior to the creation of the New York Times newspapers were by nature partisan. The Time claim was to be non-partisan. A new thing for that moment. Rupert Murdoch, Fox News, IHeartRadio and the other conservative media corps took the profession of news as a commodity back to being overtly partisan.
Can a genuine democratization of news (as product), when delivered through local sites such as Universal Hub (which itself can get the news product from Reddit which gets the product from the average Jane and Joe) help to rebalance the heavy handed partisanship and propagandistic orientation of Fox News, etc.?
Exciting!?!
All news is partisan and always has been

The New York Times has their own angles and agendas, just as any news source does, including this website. I hope you realize all of your “non partisan†news sources lied and suppressed factual information before the 2020 presidential election.

Nah, not really. Everybody has an agenda. To claim that no entity has an agenda is like claiming that there are people who live absolutely unconditionally. Only saints do that and only after made a saint (I.e., dead).
Your argument attempts to dismiss the idea that journalism shifted from overt political partisanship to what became called objective journalism. The difference? The difference between the Moonie owned Washington Times or Rupert Murdoch’s solidly partisan (to the point of overt lies) Fox News versus legitimate journalism that tries to straddle the line between making a profit and reporting the affairs of the day.
As for the Biden laptop: so much of that story smells of 2 week old fish left to sit out in 90 degree heat.
A laptop with an external hard drive left at a repair shop and forgotten? That involves cracking passwords and someone or many spending a lot of time sorting through huge volumes of data.
There is much to the story that fails the smell test.

The article seems to be describing the scene in the video, when the bike riders threw rocks at the car after it had already crashed. There's nothing to indicate that rocks were being thrown prior to the crash.
The opening sentence is ambiguous, but there's nothing in the body of the article to indicate that rocks were thrown prior to the events on video:

There you are...with a rock in hand...and a menacing driver begins charging you with their car...so you hurl your rock at the car with the hopes of what? When are you ever going to defend yourself with a rock versus a car and expect anything meaningful to come from it?
And that wasn't even this situation where the driver had already done their damage, the car was stopped, and instead of staying clear, they chose to attempt to break the car open with large rocks in an attempt to get to the driver (and passengers).
This entire video is just a litany of everyone doing the wrong thing on top of wrong things.
