Man, teen already facing attempted-murder charges arrested in gun, drug raid in Dorchester, police say

Boston Police report seizing seven guns, ammunition and drugs in two separate raids Thursday morning in which five people were arrested, including a man and a teen were already facing attempted-murder charges.

Around 6 a.m., the BPD SWAT team, along with State and Somerville Police, raided a residence on Norwell Street in Dorchester, seizing "a loaded 9mm Centry Arms Inc TP9 handgun, a loaded 9mm Glock 26 Gen 2 handgun, a loaded 9mm Glock 43 handgun and a loaded .40 caliber Glock 27 handgun," along with various drugs, police say.

Arrested: A 17-year-old Dorchester resident, too young to have his name released, Teijhere Palmer, 20, of Somerville, Davonte Bowden, 24, of Quincy and Laurian Slaughter, 45, of Dorchester.

The teen was taken into custody on a warrant out of Middlesex Juvenile court charging him with two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm. Palmer had has a warrant issued only the day before on two counts of assault with intent to murder and various gun charges in Somerville District Court.

A a result of the Norwell Street raid, Palmer now faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.

Bowden and Slaughter were charged with similar gun offenses; Bowden was also charged with possession of Class B drugs, Slaughter with possession of Class B and Class E drugs, police say.

In a separate raid, police report arresting De’Arro Brown, 34, of Dorchester and seizing three loaded guns, 100 bullets and 231 grams of cocaine.

So what happened to the mandatory one year if convicted of illegal gun possession?

These laws should be harsher. Owning an illegal gun should be a 10 year minimum. The only type of person that acquires an illegal gun is one who intends to shoot it at people.
