Tito Jackson wins approval for two-story bar and lounge above his downtown cannabis shop
The Boston Licensing Board today approved a proposal by former City Councilor Tito Jackson for a liquor license for a 62-seat bar and lounge on the sixth and seventh floors of 150 State St., where he is also working to bring a cannabis concern on the lower floors.
Patrons of his proposed Apex Bar and Lounge would have a dedicated elevator to whisk them upstairs, after they meet the approval of a bouncer on the first floor.
Jackson told the board today that although he would love to someday add social marijuana consumption to the lounge, he said that would be off in the distant future, both because the state is still working on regulations for such social pot use and because he wants to concentrate on making his bar a success.
Jackson would buy his liquor license from a taco place that used to be at 150 State St.
The board approved letting Jackson serve liquor without having to also serve food. However, Jackson said he is talking to nearby restaurants about possibly supplying food to any of his patrons who might be feeling peckish.

Of course he did.
The political class keeps racking up wins in the marijuana game. What an embarrassing, rigged system.

“ Jackson told the board today that although he would love to someday add social marijuana consumption to the lounge…”
What exactly does he or anyone who uses the phrase “social marijuana” mean by that?
Edibles? Well, okay.
But if their aim is to find a way to roll back hard earned workplace safety protections for restaurant and bar employees and make it legal for customers to light up and smoke in this establishment, then they are scum.
Lmaoo
People who sign up to work at a cannabis bar worried about smoke inhalation? Lmao! get out much?
Smoke lounges exist in other states they’re an inevitably here. They’ve been pushing it for years.
I’m guessing you know nothing about the ventilation requirements and maximum purchase plans.
“Scum” he says. lmaoo

While I understand the sentiment I would say that of all the people mentioned in the business Tito Jackson is the one who advocated for smaller concerns louder than anybody. I was in public meetings where I saw him pushing for programs to help smaller less connected concerns connect. He brought up the fact it was hard to raise money for this sort of business because loans are hard to come by, the situation with leasing etc. He was perfectly upfront in these meetings with the fact that he himself had a way forward... But he really did make a push to make it more feasible for the non connected class succeed , especially with the impacted individual licenses.
