Man charged with speeding down Melnea Cass Boulevard with a loaded gun

Boston Police report officers who initially pulled a man over for making an unsafe lane change at a high rate of speed on Melnea Cass Boulevard near Albany Street around 9:55 p.m. on Friday wound up arresting the driver for the loaded gun and large amount of marijuana he had with him.

Jonathan Lopez was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition for the 9-mm Glock with 10 rounds and the separate magazine with 5 rounds police say he had, as well as distribution of marijuana.

You need probable cause to search. You need Reasonable belief that your safety is in danger (someone may have a gun or can reach somewhere where there is a gun) to frisk. People in cars can reach under the seat to grab a Gun, so officer can “frisk” under the seat to see if there is a gun there.
