Guy with loaded gun and pal arrested trying to steal scooters out of a Chinatown alley, police say

Boston Police report a Roslindale man and a pal from Walpole were up to no good in an alley off Harrison Avenue in Chinatown early this morning: They were using a power drill to open up and steal several scooters.

Police say officers, on patrol in the area of Harrison Avenue and Oxford Place around 1:15 a.m. because of complaints from residents about loitering and drug activity, spotted Jeffrey Salvant, 35, of Roslindale and Marcus Beauchamp, 28, of Walpole, "standing next to several scooters which all appeared to have heavy damage and exposed loose wires."

One male was holding what appeared to be a power drill. Due to the time of night and location, officers believed the two suspects may be attempting to steal the scooters.

After further investigation, both males were unable to provide registrations or proof of ownership and were placed under arrest. Jeffrey Salvant was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm, a small plastic bag of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and three plastic bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The loaded 9mm firearm contained fifteen rounds in the magazine. Other evidence recovered was; a digital scale, numerous screwdrivers, wrenches and a power drill.

Salvant was charged with unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, possession of ammunition, possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute, possession of Class D drugs with intent to distribute, receiving a stolen motor vehicle and possession of burglarious tools, police say. Beauchamp was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and possession of burglarious tools, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Give them another chance. I’m sure they’ll turn it around if you do.
