Barbers, salons and others rush to help businesses ruined by Roslindale Square crash

A GoFundMe set up by Roslindale resident Chris Lang has already gotten $26,000 in pledges to help the barbershop, threading salon and nine other businesses destroyed or shut yesterday when somebody drove into their Corinth Street building yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, Boston Police have yet to determine the cause of the crash, but said no charges have been filed.
As word spread of the crash, Vicky Elias at the Rialto Barber Shop on South Street offered use of one of her chairs so that at least one Sebastian's barber could keep working. Centre Cuts Spa and Salon, in the building next to the one Sebastian's was in, and Unique Salon in West Roxbury also offered chairs.
Real-estate broker Josh Muncey offered space in his office on Birch Street, across from the ruined building, offered space to the businesses, in particular those on the second floor:
We can help with potentially sharing our space with displaced businesses, storage in our basement, meeting hosting, volunteer support, and any other needs.
Courtney Pong, who owns the Roslindale Square Theater on Basile Street, offered space for meetings or just to store some stuff.
Greater Roslindale Medical and Dental Center also offered space
Roslindale Village Main Street reports it is working with state and city officials to try to secure funding and other resources for the businesses.

Building being partially demo'd this morning
Understandable I guess but sad to see the upper and lower floors of the building around that post being completely removed with a large machine. I worry that the entire right half of the building needs to come down, at which point can the other half be saved? I am not an architect or structural engineer, maybe it's not as bad as it looks.

I am glad you are to find some humor in multiple people having their livelihoods hugely disrupted yesterday right in time for the holidays. Charming stuff. At least Adam provided some pointers for possible locations where you can go visit this week to tell those people that it was the fault of a driver. I'm sure that will be a huge comfort to them.
I think you're missing the point
People are making jokes because they're frustrated that this keeps happening and the city and state seem to refuse to make any actual changes that would prevent this kind of thing. It's great that people want to help out in this specific case and are sharing ways to do so, but long-term, we really should be using this as an incentive to try and fix these kinds of known infrastructure issues rather than just writing it off as another one-off tragedy just like the kind we seem to have every week now.

I wish people would not rush to judgment and "solutions" as quickly as the knee-jerk reactions we've been reading. To me, this looks as likely to be a stuck accelerator pedal as it is to be speeding or any of the other suggestions made here. That kind of accident is never going to be solved by traffic cams or bike lanes or reconfiguring the intersection. You could even imagine a bus plowing into the building with the same kind of fluky malfunction. We won't know what "known infrastructure issues" are raised by this accident until we find out where the infrastructure went wrong.

I suspect you are speaking with intentional hyperbole, but I feel the need to express disagreement. I've been a regular here for a long time, and I believe the vast majority of uhubbers are decent, reasonable folk who care about their neighbors and their city; and when they comment, it's often informative, amusing, or touching. And sometimes they're mad. It's ok to be mad about things that suck.
But there's a rather small, self-righteous, and increasingly nasty minority who seem perpetually mad and are caught up in pet grievances/personal antagonisms with each other and the world in general. They don't appear to care that their squabbling and insults actually lessen the positive impact Adam's site has on our community. This group has members of all ideological/political bents. They are a mere handful of people but lately it sometimes seems like they make the majority of comments. I think part of that is because most folks - surprise! - don't actually enjoy pissing matches, and don't want to get caught up in one.
I wish I had a practical suggestion on how to make these commenters more aware of the damage they're doing, but I don't. I feel that I've become a better person as I get older - still angry more often than I'd like, but less prone to acting like a vindictive tool - but I have to give most of the credit for that to my spouse, my child and my friends, who've put up with me for gods-know-why as I've slowly grown up over the last half century.

Spot on… Been thinking the same for a while. Article after article seem to keep getting bogged down in seemingly endless arguments about cyclists vs drivers vs pedestrians, or Republicans vs Democrats, etc… Quite often, it’s unrelated to the topic at hand and completely lacking in empathy.
Not sure anyone’s behavior will ever change, but there could be other solutions - maybe a few pages dedicated to arguing about those topics, that people could be redirected to? Or the ability to hide certain repeat-offender posters?
The Globe took the approach of just hiding their entire comments section, but that would be a terrible approach here. There’s a lot of useful, informative and entertaining comments from others to be found. Just have to slog through a lot to get to it sometimes.

Wonderful neighbors
It's lovely to see so many neighboring businesses offering practical help so generously. Roslindale is fortunate to have such a strong culture of neighborliness and community spirit. Thank you to all the businesses reaching out to provide support to those harmed by this crash.

What's the name of the driver and how much are they kicking in? How about their family members that didn't take their license away?

The reality is that you look down your nose at the people effected. You just enjoy hating cars, and little else.
