Mattapan Square party ends with two shot, one dead

Victim identified as Jymaal Cox, 33 and a father of two, of Mattapan.

Boston Police report two men were shot, one fatally, at at 1601 Blue Hill Ave. in Mattapan, shortly before 6 a.m.

The man who died was declared dead at the scene, police say.

Live Boston reports the shootings came during a house party that started on New Year's Eve. Police had to call in reinforcements from across the city to deal with "a large hostile crowd" that refused to disperse even as the first victim's body lay there. A third person was injured, by either jumping or falling out of a window.
