Some BU students just need room to vroom
By adamg on Wed, 05/03/2023 - 8:55am
The Daily Free Press reports somebody called BU Police on the evening of April 28 to report "about 50 cars on the rooftop of the parking garage [at 730 Comm Ave.] revving their engines." Turned out to be members of the BU car club just doing some circle revving, but not anything wrong, so no need to send them on their way.

Why Do You Need A Car At BU?
Just checking.
Oh, that's right. Wealthy kids from here, China India, and the Gulf who go there need their car to get from the Ritz over to campus for their "classes". I forgot. Poor kids.
Hot take
From a guy who lives in a car dependent suburb.
Thanks Madame Curie. We Appreciate Your Brains
I don't have a full transit system with multiple stops in front of my door and where my classes are.
Piss off.
No noise violations ?
Or rather no equipment to document a noise violation?
My exhaust pipe says : "Hey, Boys... Suck it."
Whoot-whoo!
Quadruple the gas tax.
Quadruple the gas tax.
Idling is against state law. Not that I’m surprised the cops let drivers break laws for the billionth time.
Speaking of Cars and Universities
Has there been any followup to the fatality on the shuttle bus that was heading back to Brandeis from Boston last November?
Does the law not apply at BU?
More than 5 minutes is idling, which is a $100 offense.
No fun police in here
Gesh! Just because you can’t rev your bicycle doesn’t mean other people can’t have fun.
I bet there were some sweet cars on that deck!
Fun
The only ones allowed to have fun are the youths on dirt bikes and ATVs popping wheelies, screaming down the wrong way on one-way roads, and revving to their hearts' content.
Such an odd fetish
You flex your foot, some machine makes noise and pollution and heat, and you find all that satisfying.
Whatever. Stimulus ... response.
Were you one of those kids who clicked your pen until the teacher took it away?
Karen’s here everyone
Don’t do anything she doesn’t like or she’ll call the police.
Cars do bring me happiness. The amount of engineering that goes into a high performance vehicle or the beautiful lines of a well crafted machine is something I appreciate and admire. You like talking down to cashiers to bring you happiness. Different strokes I guess…
Robokaren?
Gee honey. Love your haircut.
Why would I call the police when I can just laugh at your fragility and childish "loooook at meeeee" consumption behavior.
Aren't cars meant to be driven anyway? Not revved impotently in place until they overheat? Seems to me that it is much more fun to actually use them to go places or play in the snow or drive a ways off road to put the kayak in.
Or to take them somewhere like this where you can actually appreciate the fineness of the design/engineering and craft by enjoying the features - if your ability to drive is up to it: https://pittalk.org/region-info/scca-track-info/northeast-road-racing-tr...
You must have never heard of cars and coffee
Or that you can go to a car show, AND track that car, AND go on a spirited drive. I do all three in my 992 Porsche and each experience is totally different.
It’s ok - you think you know everything, but the reality is far different than your fantasy.
You know what you sound like?
You sound like one of those ditzy evangelicals who insists that atheists are ignorant of religion and just haven't been evangelized enough.
That's what you sound like.
You simply cannot grasp that anyone has experienced and then rejected your worldview.
Remember the kid with the yellow Lamborghini
I think he spent most of his money driving around Boston and showing off. Stupid child
