Boston Police report arresting a local man last night after finding him in a car that police in Stoughton had reported being stolen at gunpoint earlier in the day.
Police say officers responded to the area of Horadan Way and Cornelia Court around 7 p.m. on Monday after being alerted by Stoughton PD that the car was "pinging" there.
Officers located the stolen motor vehicle, and attempted to stop the motor vehicle. The suspect observed officers in front of him, and he immediately accelerated in reverse striking an officer’s marked cruiser. Officers demanded the suspect to show his hands which he continued to disregard, and attempted to flee from officers. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs without further incident.
Officers immediately observed a firearm from inside the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a Ruger .380 with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.
A second person was inside the vehicle and was later determined to not be involved in any of the incidences. The individual was released forthwith from the scene.
Junior Joseph, 34, of Boston, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, reckless operation, driving with canceled registration, having an open container of alcohol in a motor and resisting arrest, police say, adding he will face additional charges from Stoughton.
Innocent, etc.
