Man stabbed outside Mass and Cass shelter; suspect arrested

Boston Police report a man was stabbed outside of the Southampton Street shelter around 3:30 a.m.
Police report officers on foot patrol in the area were able to talk to some of the people they saw running from the scene and get a description of the suspect. Police say they found suspect Uwadiae Ukponmwan, 30, of Boston, across the street, outside Boston Fire headquarters - with a knife in his right shoe.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, police say.
Ukponmwan was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police say.

The Mile
More of the same. There doesn't seem to be any urgency to clean this area out on the part of city government. Equal blame lies with the mayor and city council.
Non-residential area - out of sight, out of mind?
I don't think these conditions would be tolerated for even one week in nearby Nubian Square or Uphams Corner, but this is industrial no-person's-land.
It is, however, a problem for every business located here, and the employees of those businesses.
What they need
is a Taco Bell that stays open until 3:30 AM.
