Two guys go out the door to go to work one day and do not return to their loved ones. God Rest Their Souls.

… retirement age. He almost made it. The NGrid worker was in the prime of their life. We don’t know how seriously the other 2 workers were injured but at least one sounds in bad shape.

Think twice before you make that illegal and unsafe Uturn.

Just awful.

…. after making an unsafe UTurn.
Under the influence perhaps and another bad choice to go hit and run then turn himself in after the drugs or alcohol wore off?

Just awful as you say.

Seems like he was not reformed.

He was not reformed, but for a while we were protected from him.

Being reformed would mean we'd be forever protected from him...and him from his old self.

If you think the goal is to protect us from him, then that would seem to be the better solution for everyone involved, no? It's a shame we don't incarcerate to reform the way modern democracies do.

This is so very sad and apparently could have been prevented.

He was driving without a license. Perhaps someone along the line could have stopped him - but unless there's a system to monitor used car sales and make sure people have licenses, then it seems like someone's always going to find a way around the rules. We can't even prevent crazy people from buying guns, let alone cars.

Too bad a history of random behavior with lethal weapons of a certain type won't keep you there.

And deleted a sub-discussion that had nothing to do with the actual event but had everything to do with people declaring war on each other.

Not all censorship is bad.

I like this summary from TechDirt:

Moderation is a platform operator saying “we don’t do that here”. Discretion is you saying “I won’t do that there”. Censorship is someone saying “you can’t do that anywhere” before or after threats of either violence or government intervention.

Thanks.
