No laughing matter: ImprovBoston shuts doors

Cambridge Day reports the Cambridge-based improv-comedy theater and school will wind down its operations through the end of the month, then just disappear. The non-profit says it was particularly hard hit by the pandemic, then was unable to ever fully recover.

They were amazing. :(

Not sure if Boston's stand-up comedy scene is like NYC or L.A., but MBTA is now on master level of comedy if u just ride the trains long enough on a daily basis.

You could use some comedy classes.

.

They couldn't wing it.

Most comedians are not as funny as they think they are, that was probably the issue.

Everyone made fun of me when I told them I was going to take stand-up classes. I graduated, and nobody’s laughing now.

Thanks, I’ll be here all week. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, and do try the veal.

I thought about taking those too. I thought it would help with my public speaking issues I have. (I tense up and start to blubber)

You could've read the article and seen that they had a thriving, well patronized business in Central Square but couldn't pay the rent during the pandemic so they had to give up their lucrative space, which eventually sunk their business.

Are not as funny as they think they are

But ain't too much sadder than
The tears of a clown

and?

That is where I saw The Aristocrats.

Laughter IS the best medicine. Here you have an arts organization whose goal was to make people laugh. With all the stupid crap that people spend their money on, it's sad that a group who wants the world to be happier can't survive.

Bummed.

Hilarious.

T advertising will never recover.

If anyone is curious, looking the venue they used to inhabit in Central Sq. It is now the home of Manray. It seems that, in some way, the loss of the venue opened up the opportunity for Manray to a place to exist again.

What am I trying to say? I honestly don't know. There's something interesting to me in the connections of the events. Some kind of "Central Sq giventh, Central Sq Takenth away" meme thing.
