Official Boston snow emergency ends at 4 p.m.

And that means you'll have until 4 p.m. on Thursday to save your parking space, the one you've so arduously dug out (except in the South End and Bay Village, where space savers are never allowed).

As of 10a.. not a lick of snow here in Chelsea. I assume it's the same in most of the city.

WCVB's radar at the moment shows just a small patch of rain.. and Boston, Quincy and a part of the North Shore is rain.

You're absolutely right. The National Weather Service is part of NOAA, which is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, which, as you know, is the fiefdom of Michelle Wu, who is personally responsible for any errors in forecasting.

By yesterday afternoon, the models had shifted considerably and were predicting little, if any snow for today. But if you're going to have a press conference in the morning, you can't wait for any updates which might come before the close of business that day.

The extra lead time for making plans to stay home with kids is a plus, but you're going to end up with days like this one which end up being a sNOw emergency.

Decisions were made locally based on dynamic information from multiple sources that was available at the time of the decision. It happens. Sometimes it goes the other way, we stick it out through a storm and it gets a little dicier than we are comfortable with.
