![Downed sign with people quite happy about it at Bolton and D streets in South Boston](https://universalhub.com/files/styles/main_image_-_bigger/public/images/2024/boltond.jpg)
A disgusted citizen filed a 311 complaint about the situation at D and Bolton streets in South Boston at 4:34 p.m.
These drunken idiots ripped the sign for D street and Bolton out of the ground (and filmed themselves doing it).
At 7:16 p.m., the disgusted citizen filed another 311 complaint:
Just watched another group of degenerates steal the damaged D St and Bolton street sign that was taken down earlier today. Watched them walking down the street with it and yelled for them to put it back, but they were too busy filming themselves committing a crime to care. I have footage of the first idiots who damaged it if anyone’s willing to do anything about it but seems like there are no legal repercussions for anything that took place today. This day was a nightmare for residents of South Boston; everyone coming here and quite literally destroying our neighborhood & leaving trash (& vomit!) everywhere. Everyone who participated should be embarrassed.
Another concerned citizen reported that as the signs and pole were just lying there, they spotted yet another group just go up to the signs and stomp on them.

Yep, sam here. Maybe Rakes' grand son? And the scene looks complete with the guy at the other end of the sign who seems game for that reenactement.

Unless Rakes spent time in Mumbai in the mid-90's fathering children.
Also, for the three years I was sentenced to live in South Boston in the mid-90's, I avoided the parade at all costs. Come to my place for beers, watch the Big East and ACC Tournaments, avoid the muttonheads like this who make it Mardi Gras north.

Things seem to be calming down in Southie on St. Paddy's day. Just major vandalism. I'd call that a step in the right direction. No protest floats (but of course at least one protest), no precarious hanging off of buildings. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

I listened to the BPD police scanner for a while during the parade. (It's available online if you're interested)
South Boston was a non-stop shitshow, including the following.
Several fights on West Broadway, some characterized as "large".
Several arrests.
A report of a man with a gun. Another report of people throwing bottles from the roof a building.
Several calls for EMTs, including reports of lacerations to legs, arms and heads, some due to thrown bottles, and also several seriously and dangerously intoxicated individuals, throwing up or not responding.
Police and EMT vehicles couldn't get through the crowd or the traffic. One officer said he couldn't bring an individual in custody to the police vehicle because the crowd was too big.
Boston EMTs were "severely" backlogged in responding to the calls. At one point, there were 40 calls that had not been responded to. (Not clear if that was the entire city or just South Boston).
Several calls to move back unruly crowds from the parade route.
There was nothing calm about the officers communications. At one point an officer pleaded that he had an individual bleeding really badly and was afraid the individual would loose consciousness. He had been waiting 20 minutes for an ambulance.
Not calm.

Did you send in photos of interesting things from the parade? Adam is constantly posting stuff people send him... I clock in a few a month myself and it's mostly all positive stuff. There's photos of turtles and eagles on the current front page as well.
Looks like he posted something he had easy access to that the readership is interested in.
Over a decade ago I noticed there were only negative things about my area on this blog. So I reached out and was like "what's the deal" and the answer was that's what was available but I was free to send other stuff too. So I started sending stuff from my area and places where I worked.
So my suggestion is if there's something you think should be covered, cover it and mention the blog in a Tweet. No guarantee it gets run but from what I've seen if it's interesting and fits into what's going on it will sometimes pop up.
And yet here you are...

When I was in the Boston Public School system in the 60s and 70s,"D" WAS a failure. So was "E". We used to dread those. There was no "F", though we heard that it had once existed. At some point this apparently all changed again.

Don't forget, Boston Latin has grades 7 and 8, as well as 9, 10, 11 and 12. I suppose you could consider the first two years junior high (we didn't say "middle school" in those days), but it was the same buildings, same teachers, same everything, so it was kind of all one thing.

it would have happened a long time ago, but the bars on the parade route, who contribute nothing or next to nothing towards the parade, are very vocal about hurting their profits. No other city with a parade has as much shenanigans going on than Boston.

The MBTA will announce that the ride to and from the parade was safe and reliable and there were no incidents to report. So I guess all the drunken fools that acted up drove to the parade instead of riding the T.
Ooh, I like this conspiracy theory
By fungwah
Mon, 03/18/2024 - 11:59am
My favorite part is that the MBTA, an organization that has shown itself to be woefully inept over the last few years, is somehow able to coordinate covering up the huge number of incidents that must surely have taken place? Just incredible how they can't perform basic maintenance but they've somehow managed to get everyone together (including the media, police, etc) to pull that off.

Meh...better a sign than p*ssing on gay people trying to join a parade. I dated a guy from Southie where he and his friends did that (early 90's).
When he told me about it while laughing I said "Why? What are they doing to you? WTF kind of person are you?" I think I was the first person that ever called him out on that stupid, ignorant Southie shit.
So for all the naysayers...Southie is changing! lolol
