An iceberg frog

Mary Ellen spotted this frog, 90% of it underwater, in a vernal pool at Brook Farm in West Roxbury.

Lithobates clamitans melanota. From the photo, it seems to have dorsolateral ridges, which the bullfrog lacks.

The green frog's call sounds like a banjo string being plucked, although I don't believe they'll be calling this early in the season.
