If you run a red light, don't tell the cops your wife is in the hospital unless she really is

Boston Police report that when officers asked a motorist tbey'd just seen running a red light at Berkeley Street and Columbus Avenue around 1 this morning for an explanation, he reportedly told them he was racing to the hospital because his sister had just called him to say his wife was in the hospital:
The officers found the operators story to be questionable but showed compassion and offered to escort him to the hospital. The operator's story then changed and he refused the escort.
Juan Torres, 35, wound up under arrest on charges of receiving a stolen vehicle and driving without a license.
Truthful until proven a liar.

there is no license to steal
there is no license to steal vehicles
Fixed
It was two separate offenses.
License to steal? That would
License to steal? That would be the Mass. state legislature.
If you're gonna use that
If you're gonna use that story, you have to expect the escort offer, and YOU TAKE IT. Refusing just makes you look like a liar... and lying about that has got to be some bad karma.
