Man arrested after pissing against side of somebody's house and then grabbing a child when told to get lost during Dorchester July Fourth gathering, police say

Boston Police report arresting a man on charges of kidnapping and assault and battery on a child under 14 after an incident on Wentworth Street in Dorchester yesterday afternoon.

According to police, Manuel Cardoso, 44, was walking down Wentworth around 4 p.m. when he went up to a house where there was a party going on and "attempted to urinate on the side of the house and then began to engage in conversation with a few children."

Adults at the scene told him to leave:

At that time, the suspect grabbed a child by the back of the neck, and attempted to drag him towards the street. The suspect had to be physically removed from the property and he fled the scene.

Officers found him about a block away on Darlington Street, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Good timing as Mass Bail Fund is accepting applications until July 15.

I'm curious about your position here.

Do you believe that the accused should be held without bail in all cases?

Do you believe that the existing mechanisms for keeping dangerous individuals off the streets, independent of setting high bail (for example, dangerousness hearings) are grossly inadequate?

Do you believe that setting bail has, or should have, some punitive purpose other than ensuring that a defendant appears at trial?

Do you believe that people who can afford cash bail are less of a flight risk than those who cannot?

Do you believe that the Mass. bail fund is a bad thing, and if so in what way?

Make reference to negative things that happen in relation to policies or programs that some "liberals" support. The facts around the situation don't matter and he has no views apart from a dislike of Democrats and those further left.

You ask serious questions, but you might as well be asking a fecal-matter throwing chimp why he poops in his hand and throws it.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the reboot of an earlier troll who got thrown off UHub for racist, sexist, and anti-LGBT bullshit in every thread about anything. The current terse mode is wearing very thin.

Bail is a good way to get someone out of incarceration until a trial verdict (or whatnot) while at the same time providing the accused a reason to turn up for the proceedings. When it's your own money, or the money of people who care enough about you personally to put up their money, you want to make sure you don't lose that money. When it's a party that has little to no connection with you, what's the motivation.

That said, from the late news last night, this guy is off to Bridgewater for evaluation. If he gets a bad result from that, the original comment will be the troll that is always was.

I'm guessing that it's pretty likely that it went down as described, but y'all seem pretty quick to take the initial police report as gospel.

I once caught a guy pissing on my doorstep, and I was sorely tempted to claim that I saw him masturbating. Which would have been a goddamned lie, but it would have been my word against his and I would likely have prevailed. A sexual offense conviction would have been potentially life-altering for him. I didn't do it, because that's just not me, but in that moment I understood how some of these cases happen.

Could be entirely false except for the part where the guy was at some stranger's house, and he's still a schmuck, because he could have just done literally anything else to occupy his time.

Kids are traumatized by adults not reacting to defend them, sure.

Kids are also traumatized by seeing someone beaten to death in front of them.

The adults here did the right thing - defended the kids then let the cops handle it.
