Pressley, Warren, Markey back Harris

US Rep Ayanna Pressley (D-7th) and US Sen. Elizabeth Warren pretty immediately endorsed Kamala Harris for president today:

Pressley tweeted:

Thank you for your dedicated service President Joe Biden.

And Kamala Harris, I’m all in, let’s go.

US Sen. Elizabeth Warren endorsed Harris as well:

She is a proven fighter who has been a national leader in safeguarding consumers and protecting access to abortion. As a former prosecutor, she can press a forceful case against allowing Donald Trump to regain the White House. We have many talented people in our party, but Vice President Harris is the person who was chosen by the voters to succeed Joe Biden if needed. She can unite our party, take on Donald Trump, and win in November.

US Sen. Ed Markey agreed:

Kamala Harris is battle-tested and ready to serve. She will galvanize voters and make history on Election Day. All in for Kamala.

Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-4th) is ridin' with Harris as well.

I got nothing against Kamala Harris being the nominee of my party

Suuuure you don't, Mr. "I haven't SEEN Obama's birth certificate".

this media circus process is all flash and no substance.

There's plenty to criticize in what you call "this media circus", but your critiques are at best flailing and incoherent. If you want to criticize the media, take a notebook, go to a quiet place, write down your thoughts and organize them. But clearly, the media is NOT who you're grinding the ax for.

So, you’re good with the corporate media as long as it is onboard with the DNC’s agenda?

So, you're good with another Trump term, the complete takeover of the executive branch including but not limited to ending of nonpartisan government employees, the appointment of more right wing judges including to the Supreme Court, the targeting of already marginalized people, and the destruction of the election process?

I AM JUST ASKING!

I’m definitely not good with that, but is Harris our best choice to beat Trump? Is doubling down on corporate, commercial populism going to strike a really deep, long-lasticg chord with Dems after the flush of thrill has worn off? Will Harris end Trumpism, or stoke Trumpism? Will Harris make a dent in the corporate ownership of both parties? Having a corrupt, lying transactionalist like Trump who apes patriotism and has business interests in the lands of our adversaries is horrific, yet having such a person be such a boon to my Democratic Party is corrosive and corrupting in giving us something to be against and not for. Trump is just one form of tyranny, the endless Faustian bargain of the emergency that is Trump and his successors keeps choice out of the equation for Dems is another insidious form of tyranny.

Biden already screwed us out of 4 years of Democratic gains -minimum- with his profound pandering to socialists over the terrorist assault/ attempt to tie-down one flank of the IDF in Israel AND put US foreign policy in a box. My fellow Democrats have entirely lost the plot on how to stand astride the hemisphere and not be bucked by global affairs.

Plus mishandling MBS, being cowed by Russian in playing favorites and electoral politics with which American hostages are more worthy citizens to trade for and Harris is to the left of this pandering, so yeah was she a “governing partner” in all this?

Do people really want (or care that) the first woman of color in the Oval Office was carried to the finish line instead of making her way from scratch? I’m not saying she’s not as capable as her peer group, just think about two versions of a future American History text book, one where the first woman president demonstrated exceptional leadership and performed great in the primaries, chose her VP and won the Presidency, and then imagine the other version where she barely moved the needle in the primaries, got added to the ticket to help bolster some softish numbers and then slide into the top of the ticket? I mean yeah a win is a win, and it’s probably a moot point, but I would choose the former as the more epic version.

Trumpian fascism because "Kamala might be seen by future historians as not having earned it"? What tortured, childish sophistry. You're as convincing a liberal as Ron Johnson, and likely on the same payroll.

Go play in traffic, you ridiculous Trump taint-smoocher.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

True then, true now.

McConnell and Trump didn’t take abortion away from us, arrogance, avarice and apathy did.

The Supreme Court reflects the Americans who SHOWED UP!

Did we show up in 2016 and create an irresistible and undeniable uproar when McConnell did Obama dirty?

And did RBG not show an incredible abundance of avarice and reckless lack of imagination by clinging to her seat? Perhaps hers was a more profound lack of faith in Democratic populism than a departure from steady Republican conservatism to maintain the status quo?

I am more afraid of what the fear of Trump is doing to my party than what Trump may do to America, because I know that it is within the American spirit to right any wrong and we will show up when chips bigger than abortion are down.

Also, VP Harris is already not conducting herself as a statesman. By refusing to sit on the dias in Congress besides Johnson and behind Netanyahu as he gives his address already impeaches her leadership, because the internet won’t approve. I’m no fan of Netanyahu, but Israel is an enduring, unique ally in the midst of a defensive war against multiple enemies with multiple aims. The aims of Israel’s enemies include harming the U.S. don’t forget. Biden sucked it up to fist-bump MBS the be-header of a US citizen and journalist and prolific executioner and surveiler of his subjects. This no-show is petty and lacking in gravitas.

As for my complaining that the mainstream media is not profiling Kamala Harris and I can do my own research you are missing the point. Yes, we can all “do our own research” and have our views “bounded in a nutshell,” or shared in our circles and tribes, but it is the job of mainstream media, legitimate journalists with access to the largest cross-section of Americans to put as much information as possible about Kamala Harris and her competitors into a shared space BEFORE the party bosses and special interest stakeholders setermined four is which way the wind is blowing.

be blathering, tendentious bores in online forums, hoping to drive people to disengagement with politics by saying the same empty nothing over and over again with long slabs of repetitive drivel?

I've seen this kind of rightie seagull troll before: smug douchebags who don't engage in discussion, just swoop in, spray a shower of runny shit, and swoop away. I suppose it's easier than trying to defend the unspeakable.

Anyone want to bet against Trump turning tail and ducking a debate with Harris? His handlers know that Gish Gallop geyser-of-nonsense tactic from the first debate won't work against a former prosecutor.

Dear ,

Right out of the gate VP Harris is not conducting herself as a person seeking the Presidency. I don’t like Netanyahu’s corruption, but the blood is solely on Hamas and their allies and not Israel and for the sitting Vice President and one time long-shot aspirant to the Presidency and current heir to the office, VP Harris’s unstatesmanlike snub is beneath the dignity of her office. Furthermore, it underscores the arrogance, avarice and rot in my Democratic Party.

Sincerely,

She was under scrutiny during her tenure as San Francisco district attorney when a technician stole cocaine from the DA’s crime lab and mishandled evidence. Harris, trying to keep things under wraps, failed to inform defense attorneys. As a result, about a thousand drug-related cases had to be thrown out.

One of Harris’ most controversial decisions came in 2004 when she declined to pursue the death penalty against the man who murdered San Francisco police officer Isaac Espinoza. At the funeral, Senator Dianne Feinstein delivered a eulogy in which she criticized Harris, who was in the audience, prompting a standing ovation from the hundreds of officers in attendance.
Harris would be shunned by police unions for the next decade.

Later, as California attorney general, Harris declined to support two ballot initiatives that would’ve banned the death penalty—raising accusations of political opportunism and inconsistency on the controversial issue.

She’s not a fan of being called the “female Obama.” When a reporter asked her about carrying on Obama’s legacy during her run for president, she said, “I have my own legacy.”

53.

In June, her Wikipedia page was edited 408 times—far more than any other candidate on the shortlist –– in the span of three weeks, which people pointed to as a sign of her nomination as running mate (The Wikipedia page of Sen. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s running mate in 2016, saw more activity than any other candidate). The edits, mostly made by one person, had scrubbed controversial information from her page, including her “tough-on-crime” record and her decision not to prosecute Steven Mnuchin for financial fraud in 2013.

Pass the torch to whom? What sort of future is the Democratic Party moving forward toward?

My criticism around VP Harris is about the process in choosing a replacement for the top of the ticket in this unique situation and to be real about the open question of: is Vice President Harris going to deepen our democratic and Democratic roots, or will she further the Socialist-Progressive takeover of the Party?

Also, as fears rise (and fall and rise) about the ‘The Big War No One Wants in the Middle East,’ (Atlantic) could it be that the Biden-Harris Administration’s betrayal of Israel by hamstringing and undermining their war effort brought us closer to a large-scale conflict as well as dooming Palestinians to being perpetual fodder and pawns for regional and global interests instead of normalizing peaceful internal relations? I know, I know, the occupation and two state solution are both non-negotiable and yet fully open questions. Or, Biden got Netanyahu out of the corner he painted himself in by being squarely on the path of zeroing out Hamas and depriving the state of a useful destabilizing asset.
