Part of Roslindale with one of the neighborhood's worst intersections blinks out
By adamg on Thu, 07/25/2024 - 12:07pm
Power's out in Roslindale in the area where Washington, Beech and Walworth streets conmingle in one of those three-way Boston intersections that are hard to navigate even when the traffic lights are working, given how many people run the lights, let alone now, when they're out and one resident reports "drivers are beeping" in an attempt to get through the mess.
Eversource reports a total of 385 residences and businesses are without power and estimates a 1 p.m. restoration time.

5pm
We got an update, 5pm restoration time. The lights at the Washington/Walworth/Beech intersection are working (I can see them from my porch).
Update to the Update
Power restored.
Agreed
I used to live on that part of Beech, and I have never felt so terrified as a pedestrian.
What is easy to navigate for
What is easy to navigate for a Rozzie driver?
Maybe not so bad
Every time I encounter an intersection where the lights don’t work, I get through faster and more safely than usual. Suddenly drivers are more observant and even courteous. There’s no more waiting through endless pedestrian cycles with no pedestrians, and long red lights with absolutely nothing going on in the intersection.
As long as it's a temporary situation.
I agree with your observation, but I don't believe that response lasts for more than a day.
