"Fiscally, morally bankrupt hospital chain" would also work.

Who saw the writing on the wall and when did they see it?

Shocked.
I mean... The last time I visited someone in Carney... There was no sign this was coming.

The miles of empty corridors past pristine, empty patient rooms.
The occupied patient rooms with duct tape holding AC equipment to rattleling window frames.
The nonfunctioning exit gate in the parking lot.
The lump of **** on the floor of a lobby restroom that was still there 24 hours after I reported it!

How is it possible that we have fallen from those lofty heights - to this!!???

This makes Magoo a saddy-pants. Carney is where Magoo met the luv of Magoo’s life Mrs. Magoo a sometime nurse at Carney. As a patient Magoo put on some smooth mooves like ex lax on Magoo’s nurse. Magoo.

I was a patient many years ago, but I moved on to a different primary care practice associated with another hospital.
During the pandemic, I read it was going to be a hospital for covid patients only. I don't know if that happened.
But I was wondering what kind of hospital is it today , and who typically is using it?

Their Emergency Department is not bad. Sometimes folks don't have a choice - 911 ambulance and that's actually the nearest Emergency Department.
I would question the quality of care if one needed to be admitted inpatient from Emergency, though. Not that the nurses, etc... upstairs didn't care - but I think resources were starting to suffer and staffing couldn't have been much better off than resources. Specialties, though - I don't know if they had enough client base at that point to support themselves at a good level.

I had something outpatient at one of their units in the last few years. Ghost town wandering around the lower floor of the building trying to find the right suite. Colonoscopy - the unit itself was adequately staffed and operated.

Pandemic - I believe it was used for that purpose. Useful. The visiting I mention in the comment above was Oct/Nov 2022, when some of the worst of Covid had passed. Some of the empty halls I walked through, I was wondering if they were being held in reserve for pandemic purposes. It seemed a little unlikely, though, as (a) they seemed stripped of a lot of equipment, and (b) besides the corridors being through-routes, the rooms weren't secured (like you might expect them to do if they wanted to minimize the cleaning they needed to do if the unit had to be reactivated).
The pandemic might have contributed to their demise. Less regular care available there, people got used to going someplace else. Or worse - stopped getting regular care.

This girl uses them. My primary care is there also get my mammograms, etc. there. The doctors are great. The CEO - not so much. He should be in jail and not a cushy one either.

and then sent to Bernie Madoff's old cell for 10 years. It's amazing how 10 years ago Boston movers and shakers and philanthropists were all lining up to kiss his ass.

Off with his head, then hang it up. Make his type afraid for their lives.

Starve the hospital of resources, then say "it's closing" and hope everyone says "good, it was awful."
