New Hampshire man charged as dumbass driving around Mattapan and Dorchester pointing a BB gun that looked like an assault weapon at people
A Manchester, NH man faces charges that he spent part of Monday driving around Mattapan and Dorchester, pointing a BB gun that looked more like an assault weapon at people - and that he got off at least three rounds from the thing without hitting anybody while strolling down one Dorchester street.
A judge in Dorchester Municipal Court set bail at $1,500 for Salvador Maldonado at his arraignment Tuesday, but then ordered him held by revoking his bail on an unrelated earlier case out of Lowell, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports, adding a court clinician interviewed Maldonado and determined he did not need to be hospitalized to determine his competency to stand trial.
According to the DA's office:
At about 6:56 pm on August 5, Boston police responded to a radio call for a person with a gun on Morton Village Drive. The caller reported that she stopped at a red light on Corbet Street and saw a man, later identified as Maldonado, in a dark colored vehicle stopped next to her. Maldonado aimed what the victim described as a brown shotgun directly at her and her five-year-old daughter. The victim immediately fled. She told police that Maldonado’s vehicle had an out-of-state license plate.
While officers met with the victim, other officers responded to Burt Street for another call of a person with a gun. The caller reported seeing a man, later identified as Maldonado, walking up and down the street with a rifle. The caller reported hearing three popping sounds and people yelling. She told officers that Maldonado pointed a rifle at her before entering a blue Honda Pilot.
Officers located Maldonado inside a blue Honda Pilot bearing New Hampshire license plates. Officers observed a brown Sig Sauer MCX 177 airsoft rifle on the vehicle’s front passenger seat. Officers placed Maldonado under arrest without incident.

Like I always say
Imagine doing that instead of literally anything else.
Aren't these fake firearms
Aren't these fake firearms supposed to have an orange barrel? This country needs better toy-gun control.
BB guns aren't toys
nor are they "fake" guns. They fire projectiles that are capable of causing harm.
You can put an eye out with
You can put an eye out with that thing. Seriously though the mortal fear, the cold flush of adrenalin those folks must have felt for themselves and children having that thing pointed at them, that too is harm.
It's not a BB Gun
It's a pellet gun. The same type of weapon used by some pest control specialist and even hunters. Definitely not a toy.

I'm curious - why is where
I'm curious - why is where this person lives specified in the headline? I did a search for "gun" on this website and not a single post on the first three pages of the search results had the person's residence in the headline.
You don't find it noteworthy ...
That some guy from an entirely different state felt compelled to pull something like this (allegedly) in Boston?
