The MBTA reports the recent shutdown of the B Line let workers eliminate all of the eight slow zones on that Green Line branch.
The work included "full depth track reconstruction" - the replacement of rails, ties and ballast - along 4,100 fee of tracks, the refurbishing of another 5,100 feet of tracks and the replacement of 13,000 feet of overhead power lines, the T says.
More B Line details from the T.
Systemwide speed-restriction info, which shows the only restrictions west of Downtown Crossing on the four Green Line branches is a trio of slow zones near Cleveland Circle on the C Line.

Are you referring to the one in 2022? That was under different management, and it probably did jack. But for these shutdowns we have both data and personal anecdotes that some really bad patches (like red line in Cambridge) have definitely improved. Orange line as well. You can see train speeds decrease over the past year as repairs are done: https://dashboard.transitmatters.org/system/slowzo...

i second the orange line speed. I ride the orange line every day and it is noticeably faster, especially leaving Community College and approaching Sullivan.

You’d think the Orange Line would roll as smooth as glass after the tracks were replaces and the new trains, but that is absolutely not the case.

They also say they replaced the "ramps" at Sutherland Road and Chiswick Road, which almost has to be an improvement.
