Latest Waving Chicken replacement now open in West Roxbury

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Mission on Fire, which replaced Sofia Italian Steakhouse, which replaced the Vintage steak place, which replaced Fontaine's and its neon waving chicken, has opened at 1430 VFW Parkway in West Roxbury. It promises "everything from tapas and artisanal pizzas to savory pastas and our signature rotisserie chicken" all with a "bold Latin influence."

I don't immediately think of West Roxbury as a place for bold Latin cuisine

I took "bold latin influence" to be a description of the menu typeface.

To the menu editing.

NB: You can't put pez in a taco, only pescado.

respectable Mexican joints and a really good Venezuelan restaurant. But it's true that it ain't Eastie.

That menu is a mess. Just a jumble, and yet still boring?

And I guess the "bold latin influence" does not mean correctly using Spanish on their menu...

I looked on street view, which goes back to 2007, and didn't see it. I could have sworn I've seen a neon waving chicken around here though, within the past five years.

But it lives forever in our hearts, if not our colons.

You might have seen it here.

Yes, that's exactly what it was. That was a great exhibit! I wonder what happened to all those signs afterwards.

It promises "everything from tapas and artisanal pizzas to savory pastas and our signature rotisserie chicken"

And it will do all of them poorly.

Hope they do well but that menu is not particularly interesting. Can get that anywhere really. Would like some more vegetarian options and just some different things in general. West Roxbury has some good, basic places but really needs some diversification of food options.
