Man shot dead at Mildred Hailey Apartments

A man was shot behind 277 Centre St. in the Mildred Hailey Apartments in Jamaica Plain around 9:22 p.m.

Boston Police report the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found three guns on or near Horan Way.

Police say Edwin Vinales, 19, of Boston, who they say discarded one of the guns - "a semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine, capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition" - was arrested on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a large-capacity firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

A number of shell casings were found in a parking lot near 922 Parker St.. One bullet flew through a window of an apartment on the other side of Centre Street; cars were also hit by bullets.
