The Outraged Liberal reports he made the mistake of trying to take a bus from Kenmore Square to Harvard Avenue and now wonders:
... [W]hat brilliant person is behind the rebuilding of the BU Bridge-Commonwealth Avenue nightmare? And do they have a clue how to time traffic lights? ...

This situation is nothing
This situation is nothing new, and really isn't due to the construction on the Bridge. Regardless of the eventual number of lanes, cars coming across on Carlton just pile up and think they'll get across, and even jump out at the yellow light. It's not just the timing of the lights, but also people being pigs.
On a related note, during any period of heavy traffic, I'd recommend springing for the B line in the future instead and walking the long block down Harvard. It will go much faster. That said, sometimes people going across at Carlton block the T tracks too, and that usually brings the lovely sounds of the trolley honking.
False. Unless theres a
False. Unless theres a snowstorm (or terrorist activity), the 57 will always, ALWAYS get you to harvard ave faster than the B line.
And I went through the B bridge THREE times today...and didnt notice anything new with the timing of the lights.
What should be done is:
Cut the green cycle from the cross traffic by 2 seconds. Do not give those two seconds to comm ave traffic, as its used by people blocking the intersection. Instead, give it to the pedestrian light.
Or, you know, ticket people blocking the intersection. But considering the 6 cops at kenmore square "directing" traffic dont bother to ticket the intersection blockers...
